Resolution No. 3532RESOLUTION NO. 3532
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS
GRANTING A VARIANCE FROM THE TERMS OF THE ZONING ORDINANCE
OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS TO ALLOW THREE OFFSITE SIGNS.
VARIANCE NO. 88 -10
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS HEREBY FINDS, RESOLVES,
DETERMINES, AND ORDERS AS FOLLOWS:
1. That an application was filed for a variance from the terms of the
Zoning Ordinance of the City of Cypress to allow three offsite signs in
various areas near the southwest corner of Valley View Street and Cerritos
Avenue.
2. That the City Council, after proper notice thereof, duly held a
public hearing on said application as provided by law.
3. That the City Council hereby finds that:
a. Strict or literal interpretation and enforcement of the .
specified regulations would result in practical difficulty or
unnecessary physical hardship due to the low visibility of the Woodfin
Suites and Carl's Jr. locations from a major arterial street.
b. The granting of the variance as conditioned will not
constitute the granting of a special privilege since other major
commercial tenants within the business park area have signs adjacent to
a major arterial street.
c. The granting of the variance will not be detrimental to the
public health, safety or welfare or materially injurious to properties
or improvements in the vicinity.
d. The proposed variance will not create a proliferation of signs
adjacent to Valley View Street. Carl's Jr. Restaurant is permitted to
install a small directional sign adjacent to Valley View Street on the
Pavilion Shopping Center site with the condition that the subject sign
be removed in the event Carl's Jr. Restaurant relocates their business.
Additionally, the specific plan is required to be amended to prohibit
any additional signs to be located on the Pavilion site.
4. The City Council DOES HEREBY GRANT said variance subject to the
conditions in Exhibit "A" attached.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of press at a
regular meeting held on the 27th day of February X1989.
