Resolution No. 1077RESOLUTION NO. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF COMMENDING THE CYPRESS WOMAN'S CLUB CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE COMMUNITY. 1077 THE CITY OF CYPRESS FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING WHEREAS, the Cypress Woman's Club,,under the leadership of Club President, Mrs. John Leneker, has been recognized as one of the most outstanding service organizations in the community; and WHEREAS, in recognition of these services the Cypress Woman's Club was awarded First Place Awards at the Orange District Convention, California Federa- tion of Woman's Clubs, in the following categories: Conservation, Gardens and Beautification, Scholarships, Press and Publicity, Art and "Pennies for Art ", Bulletins - Communications, Music, Gerontology, Inter- American Affairs, International Hostess, Legislation, Community Improvement, Mental Health, Federation Publications, and Historian; and WHEREAS, in addition to the First Place Awards also won Second Place Awards in the following categories: Radio and Television, Crafts, Veterans, Health and Welfare, Law Observance, Status of Women, Federation Extension, Membership, and Foundation Fund; and the Special Quakenbush Conservation Award of a silver bowl; and WHEREAS, the Cypress Woman's Club was recognized at the State Convention, California Federation of Woman's Clubs being awarded First Place Awards in the following categories: Community Improvement, Gerontology, Music, Inter - American Affairs, Gardens and Beautification, Press and Publicity; and WHEREAS, the State Convention additionally recognized the Cypress Woman's Club by awarding Special Conservation Awards from Atlantic Richfield of $200;and the Anti- Litter League, Orange District of $50; and was awarded a Special Plaque from the U. S. Forest Service for their "Pennies for Pines" Program; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Robert Crafts, past the First Place Award for Armed Forces Corresponding Secretary for the Orange Clubs; and President of the Cypress Woman's Club won and Veterans, and additionally was appointed District, California Federation of Woman's WHEREAS, Mrs. Howard Mann, past President of the Cypress Woman's Club won the First Place Award in Orange District for Family Living, Home Finance and Consumer Education for the second year in a row, and additionally was appointed Junior Co- ordinator for the Orange District, California Federation of Woman's Clubs; and WHEREAS, these awards have brought special recognition not only to the Cypress Woman's Club, but to the City of Cypress. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Cypress that the City of Cypress commends the Cypress Woman's Club for their outstanding contri- butions to the community.
