Resolution No. 3064RESOLUTION NO. 3064 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS COMMENDING NATIONAL JUNIOR BASKETBALL, INC. ON ITS SECOND ANNIVERSARY OF OPERATIONS AND ITS SECOND NATIONAL TOURNAMENT SCHEDULED FOR MARCH 21 - 25, 1986. WHEREAS, National Junior Basketball, Inc., a youth oriented basketball program for boys and girls, grades 3 - 8, began its program in 1985 in Orange County, California, with 500 participants; and WHEREAS, National Junior Basketball, now in its second year of operations has 2,500 boys and girls enrolled in various leagues throughout 23 cities of Orange County, including Cypress; and WHEREAS, National Junior Basketball's goals and plans are to give the youth of our communities throughout the State of California and other states in our country the opportunity to play youth basketball in an organized and competitive way and to allow them to develop their athletic skills and encourage good sportsmanship; and WHEREAS, the founders of National Junior Basketball., Inc., Dennis Murphy, Jr., Dr. Philip Young and Dennis Murphy, Sr., started this program for the purpose of building a youth athletic organization that will help further the interest and development of basketball for young people through- out our country and the world. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cypress City Council and the people of Cypress do hereby offer CONGRATULATIONS to the Officers and Directors of NATIONAL JUNIOR BASKETBALL, INC., for their effort in developing this basket- ball youth program and wish them and all the boys and girls who participated in the just finished second season of regular play, success and Best Wishes in the National Tournament scheduled for March 21 - 25, 1986, here in Orange County.
