Resolution No. 3118RESOLUTION NO. 3118 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS, AND ACTING AS EX- OFFICIO BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CYPRESS RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT, A SUB- SIDIARY DISTRICT OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS, AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 1635, RULES AND REGULATIONS, CHAPTER 6, CONCERNING PROBATION FOR EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS AND THE CYPRESS RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Cypress, and acting as ex- officio Board of Directors of the Cypress Recreation and Park District, is authorized and directed, under the provisions of the Personnel Ordinance, to adopt, and, from time to time, to amend City /District Rules and Regulations for the administration of the Personnel System; and, WHEREAS, the City Council deems it necessary to amend the Personnel Rules and Regulations affecting City /District employees. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Cypress, and acting as ex- officio Board of Directors of the Cypress Recreation and Park District, that Chapter 6, Section 6.01, of the Rules and Regulations is hereby amended to read as follows: Chapter 6. PROBATIONARY PERIOD. Section 6.01. Permanent Appointments Following Probationary Period. The original and promotional appointments of every employee, other than those whose appointment is exempt shall be tentative and subject to a probationary period of six (6) months. Notwithstanding the above, police officers hired prior to July 1, 1986, shall be required to serve a twelve (12) month probationary period. Police Officers hired on or after July 1, 1986, shall be required to serve an eighteen (18) month probationary period. When unusual circumstances merit the extension of the probationary period, the department head shall request, in writin€ approval of the City Manager, said extension shall not exceed ninety (90) days. The Personnel Officer shall notify the department head and the probationer concernE two weeks prior to the termination of any probationary period. If the service of the probationary employee has been satisfactory, the depart- ment head shall file with the Personnel Officer a statement, in writing, to such effect stating that the retention of such employee in the service is desired. No actions changing an employee's status from probationary to permanent shall be made or become effective until approved by the City Manager. This amendment shall become effective July 1, 1986.
