HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 3119289 RESOLUTION NO. 3119 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS, AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 2900, MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE CITY OF CYPRESS AND THE CYPRESS PUBLIC SAFETY EMPLOYEES ASSOCIATION. WHEREAS, City representatives have met with appropriate representatives of the Cypress Public Safety Employees' Association regarding a proposed amend- ment to the City of Cypress' Personnel Rules and Regulations; and, WHEREAS, the Cypress Public Safety Employees' Association agrees to the proposed change to the City of Cypress' Personnel Rules and Regulations; and, WHEREAS, the City Council has approved, by Resolution, an amendment to Chapter 6 of the City's Personnel Rules and Regulations; and, WHEREAS, the Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Cypress and the Cypress Public Safety Employees' Association must be amended to be consis- tent with the Cypress Rules and Regulations. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Cypress, that Article VIII, Section 1A, of the Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Cypress and the Cypress Public Safety Employees' Association is hereby amended to read as follows: ARTICLE VIII - PROBATIONARY PERIOD Section 1. Permanent Appointments Following Probationary Period. A. The original and promotional appointments of every employee, other than those whose appointment is exempt shall be tentative and subject to a probationary period of six (6) months. Notwithstanding the above, police officers hired prior to July 1, 1986, shall be required to serve a twelve (12) month probationary period. Police officers hired on or after July 1, 1986, shall be required to serve an eighteen (18) month probationary period. When unusual circumstances merit the extension of the probationary period, the department head shall request, in writing, approval of the City Manager, said extension shall not exceed ninety (90) days. The Personnel Officer shall notify the department head and the probationer con- cerned two weeks prior to the termination of any probationary period. This amendment shall become effective July 1, 1986. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Cyp ess, at a regular meeting held on the 28th day of July, 1986.
