Resolution No. 351RESOLUTION NO. 351 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS OPPOSING SENATE BILL NO. 888. WHEREAS, there has been introduced as Senate Bill No. 888 proposed legislation which, if adopted, would provide and guarantee a monopoly on Thoroughbred horse racing to Alameda, Contra Costa, San Diego and Los Angeles Counties, and, WHEREAS, population growth in the other fifty four counties of the State is such that a great inequity, economically and recreationally, will exist as between the four counties of the State with six Thoroughbred racing tracks as against none for the other fifty four counties; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Coancil of the City of Cypress vigorously opposes Senate Bill No. 888 and the principle of restricting Thoroughbred horse racing to existing racing tracks only, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City supports the efforts of the City of Huntington Beach in its opposition to monopoly in Thoroughbred racing and urges other cities and counties to do likewise.
