CITY CLERK
Resolution No. 512
EXHIBIT "A"
3 -I CERRITOS- KNOTT (AMENDED 3 -64)
Existing Conditions
This 160 acre area is bounded on the north by Cerritos Avenue; on the
south by the Southern Pacific railroad; on the east by Knott Avenue; and on
the west by the Bolsa Chica Channel.
The land is proposed residential and industrial.
The surface flow during a major storm is in a southwesterly direction
to the railroad track; thence westerly along the tracks to Bolsa Chica Channel.
Scope of Project
Facilities should be constructed along the northerly side of the rail-
road tracks to pick up the water at critical points and carry it westerly to
the flood control channel, and along Cerritos Avenue from Hester Street
westerly to the flood control Channel. These facilities will prevent
flooding during a ten -year storm.
Facilities to be Constructed
At Knott Avenue construct an inlet structure to the channel. From
Knott Avenue west construct approximately 1320 feet of concrete -lined
trapezoidal channel with a 4 -foot wide bottom, 1 :1 side slopes and 5.5 -foot
depth. From this point west, construct approximately 1320 feet of concrete -
lined trapezoidal channel with a bottom width of 4 feet, 1 :1 side slope, and
a depth of 5 feet. At this point, which is the southerly prolongation of
Holder Street, construct two catch basins on Holder which empty directly into
the channel. From Holder Street west, construct approximately 1320 feet
of concrete -lined trapezoidal channel with a bottom width of 4 feet, 1 :1 side
slope, 6 feet deep. From this point west, construct 1410 feet of concrete -
lined trapezoidal channel with a four foot wide bottom, 1:1 side slope, and
6 foot depth. At this point, which is the east side of Valley View Street,
construct a transition structure to 130 feet of existing 48 -inch R.C.P. and
inlet structure.
At Valley View construct two catch basins. Protect the channel on
both sides with 6 -foot chain link fence. Construct two catch basins at
Valley View and Cerritos.
Existing Facilities Included
At a prior time the following facilities were constructed and are a
part of the facilities in area 3 -I. Along the south side of Cerritos from
Valley View Street east was constructed 412 feet of 48 -inch R.C.P., 350 feet
of 45 -inch R.C.P., 104 feet of 27 -inch R.C.P., and a catch basin.

3 -SQ ORANGEWOOD -KNOTT TO BOLSA CHICA (Amended 3 -64)
Existing Conditions
This 305 acre area is bounded on the west by Bolsa Chica Channel; on
the north by a line approximately 600 feet north of the centerline of Orangewood
Avenue, on the east by Knott Avenue, and on the south by the Garden Grove city
boundary. All but 17 acres are within the City of Cypress, the remainder
being in unincorporated county area.
The existing drainage during a major storm is in a westerly direction
to Bolsa Chica Channel. There is a ditch on the north side of Orangewood
which collects some of this runoff and carries it westerly to the channel.
Scope of Project
As this area developes, facilities should be constructed to collect
the runoff before the street capacities are exceeded, and to carry this drainage
to Bolsa Chica Channel. Since a portion of this area is outside the city of
Cypress, cooperation between the city and county will be necessary for the
ultimate development of this area.
Facilities to be Constructed
Eastward from Bolsa Chica Channel to Valley View Street and on the
north side of Orangewood Avenue, construct approximately 2100 feet of concrete
lined trapezoidal channel with a bottom width of 2.25 feet, depth 4.5 feet, and
1 - :1 side slopes.
At Valley View Street construct approximately 120 feet of 8 feet x
6 feet (clear opening) concrete box to carry the drainage under the street.
Continue the concrete lined trapezoidal channel approximately 3400
feet east, in one 1000 foot and two 1200 foot sections reducing the depth
of channel to 4.25, 4.0, and 3.7 feet respectively.
From this point east on Orangewood Avenue, construct approximately
710 linear feet of 54 inch R.C.P.
From this point east to a point approximately 300 feet west of Knott
Avenue, construct approximately 1500 linear feet of 45 inch R.C.P.
About 18 catch basins should be constructed to collect the drainage
from Orangewood Avenue and to carry it through 36 inch R.C.P. to the proposed
channel.
