RESOLUTION NO. 559
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS,
CALIFORNIA, CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE OF THE HOLDING OF A SPECIAL
MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE CITY ON TUESDAY, THE 11TH DAY
OF MAY, 1965, TO SUBMIT TO THE ELECTORS OF THE CITY THE QUESTION
RAISED BY A REFERENDUM PETITION CONCERNING WHETHER OR NOT
ORDINANCE NO. 242 SHOULD BECOME EFFECTIVE
WHEREAS, the City of Cypress City Council adopted Ordinance No. 242 on
January 25, 1965, and on February 23, 1965, a Referendum Petition signed by
more than 10% of the registered electors of the City was filed with the Clerk
of the Council requiring said City Council to entirely repeal said Ordinance
or submit the same to the voters at a regular or special election; and
WHEREAS, said Ordinance may not become effective until
the voters voting on the Ordinance vote in favor of it.
NOW, THEREFORE, the CityCouncil of the City of Cypress,
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND ORDER as follows:

California,
Section 1. That the City Council hereby calls a special election to be
held on the llth day of May, 1965, for the purpose of submitting to the
electors of said City a proposition to determine whether or not said voters
desire Ordinance No. 242, against which a proper Referendum Petition has been
filed, to become effective.
Section 2. That the polls for said election shall be opened at seven
o'clock A.M. of the day of said election and shall remain open continuously
from said time until seven o'clock P.M. of the same day, when said polls shall
be closed, except as provided in Section 14436 of the Elections Code of the
State of California.
Section 3. That on the ballots to be used at said special election, in
addition to any other matters required by law, there shall be printed
substantially the following:
MARK CROSS ( +) ON BALLOT ONLY WITH RUBBER STAMP;
NEVER WITH PEN OR PENCIL.
(ABSENTEE BALLOTS MAY BE MARKED WITH PEN AND INK
OR PENCIL.)
INSTRUCTIONS TO VOTERS
To vote on any measure, stamp a cross ( +) in the voting
square after the word "YES" or after the word "NO ".
All marks except the cross ( +) are forbidden. All
distinguishing marks or erasures are forbidden and
make the ballot void.
If you wrongly stamp, tear or deface this ballot, return
it to the inspector of election and obtain another.
On absent voter ballots mark a cross ( +) with pen or
pencil.
MEASURE: CITY OF CYPRESS - ZONING ORDINANCE REFERENDUM.
Shall Ordinance No. 242, changing the zone
of territories referred to therein from M -1
(Light Manufacturing) to H -C (Highway
Commercial), Zone Change No. Z -121, be
adopted to become effective in the City of

Section 4. That a cross ( +) placed in the voting square after the word
"YES" in the manner hereinbefore provided shall be counted in favor of the
adoption of the Ordinance. A cross ( +) placed in the voting square after the
word "NO" in the manner hereinbefore provided shall be counted against the
adoption of the Ordinance.
Section 5. That if the measure receives the requisite number of votes,
to wit, a majority of the votes of the qualified electors voting on said
measure are in favor thereof, said Ordinance shall become effective.
Section 6. That for the purpose of holding said election there,are
hereby established five voting precincts designated as hereinafter stated and
each consisting of the regular election precincts in said City of the numbers
h ereinafter stated, as said regular election precincts have been established by
the Board of Supervisors of Orange County for the purpose of holding state and
county elections and exist on the date this Resolution is adopted. The polling
places for the respective voting precincts shall be the places hereinafter
designated, and the persons hereinafter named, being competent and qualified
electors and residents of said City and of their respective voting precincts,
axe hereby appointed officers of said election for their respective voting
prechcts and they shall hold said election and make return thereof in the
manner provided by law.

Section 7. That except as otherwise provided in this Resolution, the
election called hereby shall be conducted as provided by law for other
municipal elections in said City.
Section 8. That the City Clerk shall post the notices as provided in
Sections 22834 and 22835 of the Elections Code of the State of California.
