SPECIAL MEETING
CYPRESS CITY COUNCIL
January 23, 2018
A special joint meeting of the Cypress City Council and Cypress School District was
called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Mayor Peat at the Cypress School District, 9470 Moody
Street, Cypress, California.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Board President
Sondhi.

extended by the City Council)

JOINT STUDY SESSION WITH CYPRESS SCHOOL DISTRICT
Superintendent Anne Silays provided an overview of the current school district facility.
Assistant Superintendent Tim McLellan discussed the vision for the school district
facility.
A walking tour of the District office property was conducted.
Superintendent Silays discussed project funding.
Assistant Superintendent McLellan discussed the RFP process for interested
developers.
Chad Brown, Melia Homes, provided an overview of the proposed residential
development, which would include 12 multi -family and 33 single-family homes.
Assistant Superintendent McLellan discussed the relocation of District buses to the City
Maintenance Yard, moving Child Nutrition Services to Landell Elementary School, and
moving District Maintenance and Operations to Swain Elementary School.
The conceptual design for the District Office was provided.
Superintendent Silays presented a proposed timeline to submit a measure to the voters
in November.
Board President Sondhi discussed the District's Facilities Maintenance Plan and the
cooperation of the District and City on working together.

Council Member Yarc stated she is supportive of working with the District but will need
further information on the proposed residential development.
It was the consensus of the City Council to continue working with the District on their
timeline.
ADJOURNMENT
Mayor Peat adjourned the meeting at 5:04 p.m., to an adjourned Regular Meeting, to be
held on Monday, February 12, 2018, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Executive Board
Room.
