RESOLUTION NO. 2808
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS
COMMENDING THE SOUTH COAST REPERTORY FOR OUTSTANDING
SERVICE TO ORANGE COUNTY ON THE OCCASION OF THEIR 20TH ANNIVERSARY.
WHEREAS, for the past 20 years, the South Coast Repertory has served
all of Orange County by providing theatrical productions of the highest
professional standards; and
WHEREAS, the South Coast Repertory has received national recognition
for presenting world premieres by emerging American writers and American
premieres of new works by playwrights from all over the world; and
WHEREAS, the South Coast Repertory through its Educational Touring
Production visits over 200 schools per year; exposes students to experience
the masterpieces of world dramatic literature through their Living Theatre
Project; and provides classes in acting, speech and movement to over 800
children per year through the Young Conservatory Program; and
WHEREAS, the achievements of the South Coast Repertory has been applauded
by the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle, Dramalogue and the Dramatists
Guild/CBS New Plays Program; and
WHEREAS, the South Coast Repertory enables the many hundreds of thousand
Orange County cultural enthusiasts to enjoy performing arts at its best.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cypress City Council hereby
commends the SOUTH COAST REPERTORY for its continuing service to the people
of Orange County and extends sincere Best Wishes on the occasion of their
20th Anniversary.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Cypress at
a regular meeting held on the 9th day of July 1984.
