RESOLUTION NO. 2754
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS
RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING THE JAPANESE PIONEERS OF
ORANGE COUNTY.
WHEREAS, the Immigrants of Japanese ancestry settled in Orange County at
least as early as 1893; and
WHEREAS, these Pioneers and their families have made significant
contributions to the professional, commercial, educational, political, social,
cultural, and spiritual life of Orange County as well as the agriculture
industry; and
WHEREAS, these Pioneers through their example of hard work, sacrifices,
and law abiding efforts set a positive example for future Japanese American
generations to follow; and
WHEREAS, the Japanese American Council of the Bowers Museum Foundation
and the California State University, Fullerton, Japanese Oral History Program,
have been engaged in a joint project to document and preserve the history of
those of Japanese ancestry in Orange County; and
WHEREAS, the Japanese American Council of the Bowers Museum Foundation
will pay special tribute to the Japanese Pioneers of Orange County on March
31, 1984.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Cypress does hereby recognize and acknowledge the lasting contributions of the
Japanese Pioneers and joins in commending them as exemplary citizens of Orange
County.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Cypress at a
regular meeting held on the 12th day of March 1984.
