RESOLUTION NO. 2770
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS
COMMENDING MRS. CHRISTINE P. SWAIN UPON HER RETIREMENT
AS HEAD LIBRARIAN OF THE CYPRESS BRANCH LIBRARY.
WHEREAS, Mrs. Christine P. Swain has served as Head
Librarian for the Cypress Branch Library for the past 24 years;
and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Swain was deeply involved in the building
negotiations of the first library built on Moody Street and the
current Library Branch located adjacent to the Cypress Civic
Center on Orange Avenue; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Swain's personal touches are evident
everywhere at the Library as it is she who donates her time and
effort in creating the unique decorations and displays which are
enjoyed by all visitors at the library; and
WHEREAS, for her keen dedication to her position, Mrs. Swain
has been honored by many organizations, including the Anaheim
Business Women's Association, the Orange County Employees
Association, the Orange County Administrator Association Region
17, and Cypress College; and
WHEREAS, in addition to her full time position at the
Library, Mrs. Swain began her 23rd year as a member of the
Cypress Elementary School District's Board of Trustees, and, in
appreciation of her many years of service, has been honored by
having a school named after her, "The Christine P. Swain School"
in Cypress; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Swain was recently appointed to serve on the
Federal Grand Jury in Los Angeles and also serves as a Director
of the Cypress County Water District; and
WHEREAS, for the past 27 years, Mrs. Swain has been involved
with the County and City in parks and recreation issues and has
served eight years on the Cypress Recreation and Community
Services Commission; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Swain has donated her services to many other
civic activities and has the distinction of being one of the
organizers and leader of the first Girl Scout Troop in Cypress;
and
WHEREAS, on March 29, 1984, Mrs. Swain will be honored by
her many friends as she retires from her position as Head
Librarian of the Cypress Branch Library.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Cypress does hereby commend MRS. CHRISTINE P. SWAIN for
her dedication and service to the community and extends sincere
Best Wishes upon her retirement and for the future.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Cypress at a regular meeting held on the 26th dy of March 1984.
