Resolution No. 2946RESOLUTION NO. 2946 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS COMMENDING GRACE AND PETER LACHINA ON THE OCCASION OF THEIR 50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY. WHEREAS, on June 29, 1935, Grace Lisanti and Peter Lachina were married at a Roman Catholic Church in Brooklyn, New York; and WHEREAS, Grace and Peter Lachina were blessed with three children, Joseph, a Corporate Manager in Ohio; Andrew, Attorney -at -Law in California; and Maria, a Guidance Counselor of Special Education in New York; and are the proud Grandparents of five; and WHEREAS, Peter, who originally was a Tool and Die Maker, advanced his education and retired in 1971 as Vice Principal of the Machine and Metal Trades High School in Manhattan after completing 36 years in the education field; and WHEREAS, Grace was a Science teacher at a New York City High School for 8 years prior to becoming a teacher at the elementary school level and also retired in 1971 after 39 years as an educator; and WHEREAS, upon retirement, the Lachinas relocated to Cypress, California and in the past 13 years have been active citizens of the City; and WHEREAS, Peter completed 10 years of service on the Orange County Board of Supervisors' Senior Advisory Council, during which time, he also served in an advisory capacity to the Orange County Manpower Commission and Senior Aides Commission, as well as serving as a volunteer for many years at the Cypress Senior Center and as President for two years of the Cypress Senior Club; and WHEREAS, Grace is an active volunteer at the Cypress Senior Center; served as Secretary and President of the Cypress Senior Club; Founder and Pre- sident of the Cypress Sunshine Club; President of the St. Irenaeus Club; and is a Charter Member of the Cypress Senior Citizens Commission; and WHEREAS, Grace served as a Director of the Cypress College Patrons of the Arts; is a Charter Member of the Soroptimist International of Cypress; and in 1982, was selected by the Cypress City Council to receive the "Americana Award for Service to the Community" given by Cypress College; and WHEREAS, Grace is President of the Affordable Development Corporation whose goal is to obtain senior housing and together with Peter have assisted in many community activities and in 1979, the Lachinas were honored by the California Park and Recreation Society for outstanding contributions to the field of leisure services. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cypress City Council takes great pleasure in commending these two outstanding citizens, GRACE and PETER LACHINA, for the many, many years of dedicated service to the City of Cypress and the citizens of the community, and is honored and proud to extend sincere CONGRATLL4TItNS to GRACE and PETER LACHINA on the occasion of their 50TH 'BEDDING ANNI✓ERSARY.
