RESOLUTION NO. 2690
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS
COMMENDING THE PANTHERS INLAND CITIES SOFTBALL TEAM
FOR ITS OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT IN THE FIELD OF SOFTBALL
WHEREAS, the Cypress/La Palma based Panthers, a fifteen -years -and -under
major travel team, has reached a standard of excellence in the sport of softball,
and
WHEREAS, these outstanding players and staff named below, have brought
distinction to the City of Cypress;

WHEREAS, the Panthers enjoyed a successful 1983 season through its parti-
cipation in the Inter -Community Softball League as well as 9 weekend tournaments;
and
WHEREAS, the Panthers captured the ICL title along with 6 of the 9 tourna-
ments (including an 18 -and -under senior tournament in San Diego and a 20 -and -
under mid -senior tournament in Los Alamitos), and finished no lower than third
in 3 tournaments, and
WHEREAS, on July 17, won 7 consecutive games (played in two days), capturing
the ASA California State Championship, and
WHEREAS, on August 9, as the Southern California representative in the ASA
National Tournament, the Panthers arrived in Binghampton, New York, following
a six -game sweep of teams from Holland, Pennsylvania- Alvin, Texas; Canton, Ohio;
Salt Lake City, Utah; and Stockton, California (two games); to become ASA National
Champions, and
WHEREAS, this enabled the team to have a berth in next year's National
Tournament to be held in the City of Salt Lake for which 8 girls who are under
15 years of age will return.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Cypress
commends with pride, the outstanding efforts and talents displayed in the sport
of girls softball, and for the Panther's fine representation of the City of
Cypress.
