Resolution No. 1662151 RESOLUTION NO. 1662 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS REQUESTING THE FEDERAL INSURANCE ADMINISTRATION TO ACT PROMPTLY ON THE CITY'S REQUEST FOR DELETION OF CERTAIN AREAS IN THE CITY FROM THE FLOOD HAZARD BOUNDARY MAP WHEREAS, the entire area within the City of Cypress' City boundary was in- cluded within the boundaries of the Special Flood Hazard Boundary Map 1H0102 for the City of Cypress, Cypress, California (Orange County), and WHEREAS, the City of Cypress appealed the designation of the City as subject to flood hazard, and WHEREAS, a reply was received from Robert W. Krimm, Assistant Administrator for Flood Insurance on October 2, 1974 which indicated the source of flooding in- formation for the City of Cypress is from the Carbon Creek, Moody Creek, Coyote Creek Channels and due to local drainage, and WHEREAS, the City was not able to obtain any additional information from the sources indicated in the letter from Mr. Krimm, and WHEREAS, the City's appeal letter and accompanying materials were forwarded to the consultant, Michael Baker, Jr., Inc. for re-evaluation of the flood hazard boundary map, and WHEREAS, a revised Flood Hazard Boundary Map submitted to the City dated October 1, 1975 indicated a substantial area of the City deleted from the Boundary Map, and WHEREAS, the City Engineer of the City of Cypress forwarded additional materials and revised maps to Michael Baker, Jr., Inc. substantiating a request to delete the remainder of the area within the City of Cypress from the Flood Hazard Boundary Map, and WHEREAS, it was verbally indicated by a representative of Michael Baker, Jr. that the information submitted would substantiate the request, and WHEREAS, the Consultant submitted the re-evaluation of the Flood Hazard Boundary Map to the Federal Insurance Administration on or about October 31, 1975, and WHEREAS, the payment of the premium for Flood Insurance is a hardship on persons purchasing property within the City of Cypress, and WHEREAS, the City must be removed from the Flood Hazard Boundary Map in order to remove the requirement to purchase Flood Hazard Insurance. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the City of Cypress hereby requests the Federal Insurance Administration to promptly issue a revised Flood Hazard Boundary Map for the City of Cypress showing that no area within the City of Cypress is included within the boundaries of the Flood Hazard Boundary Map. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Cypress at a regular meeting held on the 24th day of November, 1975.
