Resolution No. 1684RESOLUTION NO, 1684 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS AMENDING RESOLUTION NO, 1635, RULES AND REGULATIONS, CHAPTERS 5, 8 and 9, CONCERNING STANDBY STATUS, RELATED LEAVE CHARGEABLE TO SICK LEAVE AND VACATION ACCRUAL FOR EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS. 185 BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Cypress, California that Chapter 5. Section 5.20 "Standby Status and Standby Pay", Chapter 8. Section 8.03 "Vacation Accrual", and Chapter 9. Section 9.09 "Related Leave Chargeable to Sick Leave" of the Personnel Rules and Regulations are hereby amended to read as follows: CHAPTER 5. COMPENSATION AND HOURS Section 5.20 Standby Status and Standby Pay When it is necessary to require a permanent employee to be available for emergency call -out or other service during a specific time period, or sworn personnel court standby, other than normal scheduled hours of work, such employee shall be considered on standby status. The City Manager shall establish policies and procedures setting forth the conditions and obligations of standby status. He shall prepare and recommend for Council approval, a schedule of standby pay and when approved, administer the payment of said pay by consistent and fair application of the policies and procedures established for standby status. CHAPTER 8. VACATION LEAVE Section 8.03 Vacation Accrual Each full-time permanent and probationary employee shall accrue vacation leave by the following formula: (except non -management District employees who shall accrue vacation leave only through F). A. 6.667 hours per month during the first year of employment (80 hours). B. 7.333 hours per month during second year of employment (88 hours). C. 8.000 hours per month during third year of employment (96 hours), D. 8.667 hours per month during fourth year of employment (104 hours). E. 9.333 hours per month during fifth year of employment (112 hours). F. 10.000 hours per month during sixth year of employment (120 hours). G. 10.667 hours per month during seventh year of employment (128 hours). H. 11.333 hours per month during eighth year of employment (136 hours). I. 12.000 hours per month during ninth year of employment (144 hours). J. 12.667 hours per month during tenth year of employment (152 hours), K. 13.333 hours per month during eleventh year of employment (160 hours), and each month thereafter. Each part-time permanent and probationary employee shall accrue vacation leave at the rate of one-half of the accrual of a full-time employee using the above formula. CHAPTER 9. SICK LEAVE Section 9.09 Related Leave Chargeable to Sick Leave An employee may be granted time off with pay due to a serious illness or injury of a member of the employee's immediate family (up to a maximum of three (3) days per year). A City employee (excluding Police Association represented employees) may be granted time off with pay for the conduct of personal business (up to a maximum of two (2) days per year). Such granting of time off with pay shall be subject to the discretion of the department head and City Manager. When any such time off is authorized, it shall be charged against the employee's accumulated sick leave account.
