RESOLUTION NO. 1741
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS
SUPPORTING THE AIRPORT MASTER PLAN STUDY TO BE CONDUCTED
BY THE INTER -COUNTY AIRPORT AUTHORITY.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Cypress feels that it is
important that the desires of its residents concerning air transportation
facilities be known to all agencies which could impact the City of Cypress;
and
WHEREAS, the State of California, SCAG and other local studies seem
to forecast an increased public demand for air carrier service in the
1980's and 1990's in Southern California; and
WHEREAS, it may not be practical to expand LAX sufficiently to meet
the full public need for air carrier service; and
WHEREAS, it may not be feasible to expand certain other existing
airports without adverse environmental effects; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Cypress has historically
been concerned over the possibilities of the Los Alamitos Naval Air
Station and its impact on present and future residents of the City of
Cypress; and
WHEREAS, all other air transportation studies conducted to date were
Airport System studies which were designed to identify the public need
but not to provide a definitive solution (if one exists); and
WHEREAS, the Inter -County Airport Authority has undertaken an airport
Master Planning study which should prove whether or not a practical solution
to the forecast public need for air carrier service can be devised.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Cypress supports the
Master Plan study undertaken by the Inter -County Airport Authority without
any further commitment on its part until the results of that study are
known.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby directed to forward
copies of this Resolution to the Inter -County Airport Authority and the
Federal Aviation Administration.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Cypress at a
regular meeting held on the 26th day of July, 1976.
