Resolution No. 1819433 RESOLUTION NO. 1819 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS, CALIFORNIA, URGING THE CONGRESS OF THE UNITED STATES TO CONDUCT AN INVESTIGATION OF THE PROCEDURES, METHODS OF NOTIFICATION AND THE IMPACT OF THE PROPOSED PLAN TO TRANSFER ADMINISTRATION OF THE LOS ALAMITOS NAVAL AIR STATION FROM THE NAVY TO THE CALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD. WHEREAS, it has recently been announced that the administration of the multi -branch Armed Forces Reserve Center on the Los Alamitos Naval Air Station (LANAS) will be transferred from the Navy to the California Army National Guard; and WHEREAS, the City of Cypress is not aware of what procedural steps are involved in the transfer of the facility and has not been advised as to what public response, if any, may be made regarding this decision; and WHEREAS, the information received by the City of Cypress to date seems to indicate that the decision regarding this facility has already been made without public notification to the communities directly impacted by this decision; and WHEREAS, this lack of information and public notification should be further investigated to determine whether proper notification methods were utilized in reaching the decision on the transfer of the facility; and WHEREAS, the impact on the level of operations resulting from the change of command is unknown; and WHEREAS, the impact on the communities surrounding LANAS is also unknown; and WHEREAS, the transfer of command of LANAS to the California Army National Guard is of great concern to the City of Cypress because of the possible changes in the level of operations at LANAS. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Cypress urges the Congress of the United States to conduct a full investi- gation to determine the impact on the level of operations at LANAS and the effects on the communities surrounding LANAS. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this Resolution be sent to the cities in Orange County, Congressmen Mark Hannaford and Jerry Patterson, Senators S. Hayakawa and Alan Cranston, State Senator Paul Carpenter, and State Assemblyman Chet Wray.
