A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS ESTABLISHING
A BASIC COMPENSATION PIAN FOR CERTAIN CLASSES OF EMFLOY1ENT IN
MUNICIPAL SERVICE.
WHEREAS, it appears there is a need within the City's municipal
service for comprehensive wage and salary plan establishing schedules
and rates of pay to be paid to officers and employees of the City
other than elective officers, and
WHEREAS, such plan shall provide for the recognition of efficient
and faithful service to the City, and
WHEREAS, the establishment of the principles of equal pay for
equal work creates an incentive for continued improvement of services
rendered by City employees, which should result in more economical
municipal government,
NOW, THEREFCRE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That there is hereby established a basic compensation
plan for those monthly employees of the City who are now, or who may
hereafter, be employed in any of the classifications of employment
hereafter listed.
SECTION 2. That the following salary and wage schedules for
monthly employees shall constitute the basic compensation plan
consisting of five steps or rates of pay in each schedule. The
column heading shall establish the normal length of service for
advancement to the next higher step, except that advancement to any
step may be made for outstanding.qualifications or exceptional
circumstances on the recommendation of the Department Head,
concurred in by the City Manager.
SECTION 3. Each employee on a monthly basis shall advance
automatically from step "A" to "B" upon completion of the time
requirement of service, provided satisfactory service is given.
Advancement to steps "C", "D" and "E" shall be merit raises, which
shall be on the recommendation of the Department Head, concurred
in by the City Manager and shall be in recognition of continued
meritorious and special improvement of the employee, as well as
for continued efficient service.
SECTION 4. A pay differential of $10.00 may be added to any
step for extra supervisory duties upon recommendation of the
Department Head, concurred in by the City Manager.
SECTION 5. Each promotion shall carry a salary increase to
the next step on the new salary range above the present salary.
