A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DAIRY CITY,
DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE NAME CHANGE ELECTION.
On motion of Councilman Van Leeuwen, duly seconded and
carried, the following Resolution was adopted:
WHEREAS, there has heretofore been filed with the
City Council of the City of Dairy City petitions requesting
that a change of name election be held within said City for
the purpose of deciding whether or not the name of said
City should be changed to "Cypress," and
WHEREAS, by resolution adopted on the 10th day of
June, 1957, the sufficiency of said petitions was found
and determined and the date for an election was fixed
and notice ordered published thereof, and
WHEREAS, said election for name change has been held
on Tuesday, the 6th day of August, 1957, to determine
whether or not the name of said. City shall be changed from
"Dairy City" to "Cypress," and
WHEREAS, all notices required by law have been duly
given for the time and in the manner so required, and
WHEREAS, this being the time prescribed by law for
the canvassing of the returns of said election and. this
Council having canvassed said election returns, finds:
That a total of Two Hundred Fifty -One (251) votes were
cast on the proposition: "Shall the name of the City of
Dairy City be char .ed to. 'Cypress'?," Two Hundred Light
(208) votes having been cast in favor of changing the name
of said City, and Forty -One (41) votes having been cast
against the change of name of said City, and One (1)
absentee vote being cast in favor of said name change, and
Two (2) absentee votes being cast in opposition to said

name change, and Two (2) votes having been mutilated;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ORDERED that this
City Council finds and it does hereby find and determine
that the necessary two-thirds (2/3) of the total votes
cast at the election are in favor of the proposed change
of name;
BE IT FURTHER THEE RESOLVED AND DIRECTED that the Clerk
of this Council is hereby authorized and directed to cause
to be filed with the Secretary of State and with the Board
of z:upervisors of Orange County, California, this statement
of the holding of the election and of the results thereof;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that from and after the date
of filing of such statements, the name of this City is
hereby changed from "Dairy City" to "Cypress" and will
hereafter be known as "Cypress."
