HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 34CITY OF CYPRESS RESOLUTION NO. 34 A RESOLUTION CHANGING THE NAME OF THE CITY. Councilman Van Leeuwen moved, seconded by Councilman Arrowood that the following resolution be adopted: WHEREAS, a petition requesting a change of name from "Dairy City" to "Cypress" was filed, found to be sufficient, and an election for said name change held; and WHEREAS, on the sixth day of August, 1957, said name change election was held, and the required two-thirds (2/3) majority voted in favor of said name change, and said Council has canvassed the votes and declared the results thereof; and WHEREAS, the necessary papers completing the name change were filed with the Board of Supervisors and the Secretary of State on August 16, 1957; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HES0LVED that the former name of this City, to wit: "Dairy City," is no longer the name of the City and that, as of August 16, 1957, this City is and shall be known as "Cypress," upon the following roll call vote: AYES: Councilmen Arnold, Arrowood, Van Leeuwen, Van Dyke NOES: None ABSENT: Councilman Baroldi ADOPTED this 10th day of September, 1957. -34- Resolution No. 34 Jacob Van Dyke, Mayor STATE OF CALIFORNIA ) COUNTY OF ORANGE ) ss CITY OF CYPRESS I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly passed by the City Council of the City of Cypress, at a regular meeting thereof held on the 10th day September, 1957. -34A- riesolution No. 34
