Minutes 76-05-26313 MINUTES OF AN ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE CYPRESS CITY COUNCIL HELD May 26, 1976 The adjourned regular meeting of the Cypress City Council was called to order at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, May 26, 1976 in the Cypress Community Center, 5700 Orange Avenue, Cypress, Calif- ornia, Mayor Alice MacLain presiding. PRESENT: ABSENT: Councilmen Hudson, Sonju and MacLain Councilmen Harvey and Lacayo Also present were City Manager/City Clerk Darrell Essex and Assistant City Manager Douglas Dunlap. The purpose of the joint meeting was to discuss organization and goals of the Cypress Youth Commission and the following members of the Youth Commission were in attendance: Brian Cardoza, Robert Granadino, Lane Landmeier, Terrence Monreal, Denise Randel, Delia Rios, Kathy Sholes, Angela Terry and Judith Yolken. The City Manager introduced Administrative Assistants Patrice Edwards, Johnni Levin, Dennis Davenport, David Barrett and Ron Thomas and reported they would act as liaisons, attend Youth Commission meetings and coordinate activities of the Commission. Mr. Essex stated the administrative assistants represent all City departments and can advise the Commissioners on the various departmental functions. He suggested that the Youth Commission set up a by-laws committee and a goals committee to more clearly define the Commission's goals which are broadly stated in the Youth Commission Ordinance (No. 564.) The Commissioners established the following meeting schedule: meetings will be held at 7:00 p.m. on the first Thursday of every month in the Cypress City Hall administrative conference room or the employees' lounge, whichever is available. It was moved by Mayor MacLain, seconded by Councilman Hudson and unanimously carried to place an item on the agenda regarding a resolution setting a public hearing date for Annexation 976-1. The City Manager reported that LAFCO approved the City's appli- cation for Annexation #76-1 (Dick Barbour Datsun) on May 26 and he recommended the adoption of a resolution setting the public hearing date on this item. It was moved by Councilwoman Sonju and seconded by Councilman Hudson to adopt the following Resolution by title only, title as follows: RESOLUTION NO. 1727 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS DECLARING THAT PROCEEDINGS HAVE BEEN INITIATED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS TO ANNEX TO SUCH CITY CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY DESCRIBED THEREIN AND DESIGNATED AS "ANNEXATION NO. 76-1" SETTING FORTH ITS REASONS FOR DESIRING ANNEXATION AND GIVING NOTICE OF THE TIME AND PLACE SUCH CITY COUNCIL WILL HEAR WRITTEN PROTESTS AGAINST SUCH ANNEXATION. City Council Minutes May 26, 1976 The motion unanimously carried by the following vote: AYES: 3 COUNCILMEN: NOES: 0 COUNCILMEN: ABSENT: 2 COUNCILMEN: Hudson, Sonju and MacLain None Harvey and Lacayo The City Manager advised that the public hearing date would be Monday, July 12, 1976. The City Manager inquired if the Council wished to follow their past policy regarding the Police Awards Dinner and the Council agreed with the past policy of providing tickets to City Council members and department heads only. ADJOURNMENT: It was moved by Councilwoman Sonju, seconded by Councilman Hudson and unanimously carried to adjourn the meeting at 5:00 p.m. to Wednesday, June 2, 1976 at 4:30 p.m. in the Administrative Conference Room.
