RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS,
CALIFORNIA, CREATING A VOLUNTEER POLICE RESERVE DEPART-
MENT AND PRESCRIBING THE RULES AND REGULATIONS
THEREFOR.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1.
There is hereby created in and for the City of Cypress,
California, a Volunteer Police Reserve Department, to be a
part of the Police Department of the City of Cypress, and to
be under the control, supervision and direction of the Chief
of Police of the City of Cypress.
Section 2.
The Volunteer Police Reserve Department shall consist
of not to exceed fifteen Volunteer Police Reserves. The mem-
ber shall be between the age of twenty-one years and fifty
years, and shall be of good character, and shall have no phys-
ical disabilities.
Section 3.
Before being appointed as a member of the Volunteer
Police Reserve Department, each applicant shall satisfactorily
meet such qualifications as may be prescribed by the Chief of
Police and approved by the City Council.
Section 4.
The Chief of Police shall notify the City Clerk upon
the acceptance of an application for the Volunteer Police
Reserve Department, and shall at all times keep a roster of
all active members of the Volunteer Police Reserve Department
on file with the City Clerk.

Section 5.
No recruit or member of the Volunteer Police Reserve
Department shall be entitled to any pay for serving the re-
quired minimum hours of service per duty week. A member of
the Volunteer Police Reserve Department, except in the case
of public emergency, disaster or calamity, shall be entitled
to pay when called to active duty over and above his minimum
hours per duty week or when he actually replaces the services
of a regular Police Officer. The pay of the Volunteer Police
Reserve Officer shall be on an hourly wage equal to that of
a beginning Patrolman in the regular Police Department.
Section 6.
Members of the Volunteer Police Reserve Department in
good standing who have met the qualifications for such Depart-
ment shall receive from the City a badge and cap emblem. The
balance of theiruniform they shall provide themselves. The
uniform shall be worn whenever and only whenever on active
police duty. The badge and cap emblem provided by the City
shall be returned to the City upon the termination of Volunteer
Police Reserve Department status.
Section 7.
Members of the Volunteer Police Reserve Department may
be called to active police duty with and for the City of
Cypress at any time at the discretion of the Chief of Police.
It shall be the duty of the City of Cypress to carry, at the
City's expense, workmen's compensation insurance covering and
protecting the members of the Volunteer Police Reserve Depart-
ment.
Section 8.
The City Council shall provide by resolution such further
rules and regulations governing the Volunteer Police Reserve
Department as it may deem necessary, and all recruits and

reserve police personnel shall be subject thereto, and to
such other and further rules, regulations and orders as may
be prescribed by the Chief of Police of the City of Cypress.

going resolution was duly adopted by the Cit;,r Council of said
City and was approved by the Mayor of said City at a regular
meeting of said City Council held on the 10th day of March, 1958,
and that it was adopted by the following vote, to wit:
