RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CYPRESS, CALIFORNIA ORDERING, CALLING AND PRO-
VIDING FOR A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN
SAID CITY ON THE 16TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER, 1958,
FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE QUALIFIED
VOTERS OF SAID CITY A PROPOSITION FOR THE
ENACTMENT OF A CERTAIN ORDINANCE.

of Cypress for the purpose of operating a cemetery thereon,
and approval as to the boundaries of such annexation was
obtained by the Boundaries Comuiission of Orange County on
May 19th, 1958, and this Council sec the time for hearing
protests against such annexation for Monday, July 14th,
1958; and
WHEREAS, it is desirable and in the public interest that
a new ordinance, the title of which is set forth in Section 1
hereof, be enacted, which will cause the annexation of said
properties to the City of Cypress and zone said properties
for cemetery purposes.
NOW, THEREFORE,the City Council of the City of Cypress
does hereby RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND ORDER as follows:
Section 1. That a special election be held and the same
is hereby called to be held in the City of Cypress on Septem-
ber 16th, 1958, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified
voters of said city a proposition for the enactment of a cer-
tain ordinance, to wit:
"AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS APPROVING
THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY,
DESIGNATED 'LAWRENCE ANNEXATION', TO THE CITY
OF CYPRESS, AND ESTABLISHING Ar CEM CEMETERY
ZONING DISTRICT THEREIN.'
That if the proposition so submitted receives a majority of the
votes cast thereon at such election, said ordinance shall be
enacted accordingly.

Section 2. That the polls for said election shall be
opened at seven o'clock A.M. of theday of said election, and
sha11 remain opencontinuously from said time until seven
o'clock P.M. of the same day, when said polls shall be closed,
except as provided in Section 5734 of the Elections Code of
the State of California.
Section 3. That on the ballots to be used at said spec-
ial election, in addition to any other matters required by
law, there shall be printed substantially the following:
MARK CROSS (x) ON BALLOT ONLY WITH RUBBER STAMP;
NEVER WITH PEN OR PENCIL.
(ABSENTEE BALLOTS MAY BE MARKED WITH PEN AND INK
OR PENCIL.)
INSTRUCTIONS TO VOTERS
To vote on any measure, stamp a cross (x) in the
voting square after the word 'YES" or after the
word "NO' . All marks except the cross (x) are
forbidden. All distinguishing marks or erasures
are forbidden and make the ballot void.
If you wrongly stamp, tear or deface this ballot,
return it to the inspector of election and obtain
another.
On absent voter ballots mark a cross (x) with pen
or pencil.

Section 4. If a voter stamps a cross (x) in the voting
square after the printed word 'YES", his vote shall be counted
in favor of the adoption of the ordinance. If he stamps a
cross (x) in the voting square after the printed word "NO",

his vote shall be counted against its adoption.
Section 5. That the City Clerk shall post in three public
places notice of this election substantially in the form set
forth in Elections Code 9751, not later than the fifty-fourth
(54th) day before said election.
Section 6. Said City Clerk shall post in three public
places before the day of election a notice substantially in
the form required by Elections Code Section 9755, the
synopsis to be the ballot proposition herein set forth.
Section 7. This resolution shall take effect upon its
adoption.
