RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CYPRESS ADOPTED OCTOBER 14, 1958 RE
LAWRENCE ANNEXATION
WHEREAS, there has heretofore been filed with the City of
Cypress a request to annex certain property to the City of Cypress,
known as the `=Lawrence Annexation", and to zone such property as
a CEM Cemetery District, and
WHEREAS, considerable interest developed concerning such
annexation and proposed land use as a result of which the City
Council adopted a resolution calling a special election to allow
the voters of Cypress to determine whether such property should
be annexed to the City and zoned as a CEE Cemetery District, and
WHEREAS, such special election was held on September 16th,
1953 and the voters of the City of Cypress, by a majority vote,
favored the annexation of such property to the City and zoning
it as a CEM Cemetery District, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the action of the voters of the City
of Cypress in favoring such annexation and in zoning such property
for use as a CEIi Cemetery District, and the applicable laws
thereto, such annexation and districting has occurred and the
property is now annexed to and a part of the City of Cypress as
a CEM Cemetery District, and
WHEREAS, numerous lawsuits have been filed for the purpose
of challenging and preventing the completion of the annexation of
said property to the City of Cypress and zoning it as a CEli Ceme-
tery District, and
WHEREAS, after full court hearing respecting said lawsuits
the Court has denied any injunctions and has determined that the
annexation has been completed to said City pursuant to the election
of September 16th, 1958.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED as follows:
A. That the City Council of the City of Cypress, as the
governing body of said City and as individual members thereof,
hereby publicly requests all good citizens of Cypress,
1. To join with the City Council to resolve and forget
any previous differences, and
2. To join with the City Council in constructive and
progressive steps to continue the growth, security and future of
the City, and
3. To accept and support the decision of the majority of
the voters as expressed on September 16th, 1958 and welcome our
new neighbors into the City of Cypress.
B. That each member of this Council publicly pledges himself
to accept and wholeheartedly support the will of the majority in
favoring annexing of the Lawrence property and zoning for CEI.
Cemetery District purposes.
C. That the Council invites Forest Lawn Memorial Park Associa-
tion to develop the beautiful memorial park they have promised
and to become the good neighbors they have expressed a wish to
become.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by unanimous vote of all councilmen this
14th day of October, 1955.
