A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS
COMMENDING MR. MICHAEL MAY FOR HIS QUICK ACTIONS IN
HELPING TO SAVE THE LIFE OF MRS. JOYCELYN TORGERSON.
WHEREAS, Michael May, 18 years of age, has been a resident of the City
of Cypress since 1968, and is currently a senior at Western High School; and
WHEREAS, on January 6, 1971, an emergency arose in the home of Mrs. Joycelyn
Torgerson, residing in the home adjacent to that of Michael May; and
WHEREAS, upon viewing Mrs. Torgerson's unconscious and unbreathing condition
immediately contacted the Rescue Squad; and
WHEREAS, his alert thinking was acknowledged by the hospital staff as being
critical in helping to save Mrs. Torgerson's life; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Joycelyn Torgerson has advised the Cypress City Council of
this heroic act.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Cypress
hereby commends Michael May for his quick and heroic actions In helping to save
the life of Mrs. Joycelyn Torgerson on January 6, 1971.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Cypress at a regular
meeting held on the 8th day of February, 1971.
