A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS
URGING PASSAGE OF STATE SENATE BILL 51 RELATING TO AUTO
REPAIR DEALERS,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS DOES HEREBY RESOLVE:
WHEREAS, a high percentage of the public owns motor vehicles, most of which,
if not all, require repair during the course of such ownership; and
WHEREAS, it is in the public interest that a high degree of professional
integrity be maintained among persons engaged in the repair of motor vehicles,
and that fraudulent and deceptive practices be eliminated; and
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 51 of the California Legislature proposes the creation
of a Bureau of Automotive Repair in the Department of Motor Vehicles; and
WHEREAS, such Bureau would be responsible for licensing auto repair dealers
and for withdrawing the license of a dealer who commits acts of dishonesty, fraud,
or deceit, who willfully departs from accepted standards for good and workmanlike
repair, or who engages in any of the prohibited practices in Senate Bill 51; and
WHEREAS, the passage of Senate Bill 51 would effectively regulate auto repair
dealers for the public health, safety, and welfare.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: That the City Council favors the adoption of Senate Bill 51 and
requests that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to appropriate members
of the State Legislature.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Cypress at a regular
meeting held on the 13th day of September, 1971.
