A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS
COMMENDING ANTHONY "TONY" LANDRY FOR HIS MANY UNSELFISH
CONTRIBUTIONS TO HIS HOME, SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY.
WHEREAS, Anthony "Tony" Landry, 17 years of age, is a resident
of the City of Cypress; and
WHEREAS, Tony, one of seven children of the Landry family, learned
early in life that sharing and giving of one self was critical to the
family balance; and
WHEREAS, Tony, at the age of seven, became a member of the Boys'
Club of Buena Park, and is in his llth year of membership; and
WHEREAS, as a member of the Boys' Club, he has helped with many
fund-raising activities and has served as coach, referee, program aide,
and goodwill ambassador; and
WHEREAS, Tony developed an early interest in the sport of wrestling
and has become one of the greatest young wrestlers in the country; and
in 1971, Tony was among those selected to represent the Boys' Club and
the community in a special cultural exchange program with Mexico; and
WHEREAS, the Buena Park Boys' Club awarded Tony the "Boy of the
Year" award for 1974/75; and
WHEREAS, Tony, striving to further serve his community, has joined
the Fight Against Muscular Dystrophy and has served for three years as
a volunteer counselor for the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Camp; and
WHEREAS, further displaying his warmth and integrity, Tony finds
the time to regularly visit, not only his elderly grandparents, but
other aged friends as well, and he is always available to help when
needed; and
WHEREAS, Tony, a versatile student at Cypress High School, not
only excells scholastically but is also active in the Varsity Football
Team; and
WHEREAS, as a Junior, Tony was the Captain and Most Valuable
Wrestler of the School's wrestling team and helped capture the League
Championship; and
WHEREAS, Tony has been awarded the Carnation Community Service
Award, which is an award given by the Carnation Company in conjunction
with the National Center of Voluntary Action, Washington, D.C.; and
WHEREAS, Tony will be honored on April 29, 1975, by the Volunteer
Bureau of North Orange County, a Voluntary Action Center; and
WHEREAS, Tony has exemplified the highest standards of humanitarian
trait; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Cypress considers it a
great honor to have a citizen of Tony's caliber residing in the City
of Cypress.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City
of Cypress, hereby commends ANTHONY "TONY"LANDRY for his many unselfish
contributions to his home, school and community, and extends best wishes
for a most promising future.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Cypress at a
regular meeting held on the 14th day of April, 1975.
