1960-05-19 (Special Meeting)CONSENT TO HOLD AND WAIVER OF NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS That we, the undersigned, being all the Councilmen, by mutual consent and understanding beforehand, hereby consent to hold a special meeting of the Council of said City at the Cypress City Hall on the 19th day of May, 1960, at the hour of 7 30 P M. of said day, and we agree that all of the acts and proceedings of said meeting shall be as valid as if had or taken at a meeting duly and regularly called and noticed. Denni , Jr Martin McCazney MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS May 19, 1960 A special meeting of the City Council of the City of Cypress was called to order by Mayor Baroldi in the Cypress City Hall, 9352 South Walker Street at 7:30 o'clock P. M. Councilmen present• W. J. Arrowood, T. A. Baroldi, J. J. Denni, M. G. McCarney and J. Van Dyke Councilmen absent: None City officials present City Clerk Olsthoorn, City Manager - Deputy City Clerk Wesenberg and City Attorney Roger Howell WEED ABATEMENT RESOLUTION Cypress Resolution No. 112 was duly adopted upon motion of Council- man Dennis seconded by Councilman Van Dyke and unanimously carried. GAS TAX RESOLUTION Resolution No. 111, a resolution of the City Council of the City of Cypress, adopting Project Statement No. 5 for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1961, upon motion of Councilman Arrowood, seconded by Councilman McCarney, was unanimously adopted, PROPOSED SALARY SCHEDULE The City Manager presented the proposed salary schedule for Cypress employees and officers to be effective during the 1960-61 fiscal year. Upon motion of Councilman Van Dyke, seconded by Councilman Denni and unanimously carried, the Council authorized a $75.00 per month increase for the City Manager. Upon motion of Councilman Arrowood, seconded by Councilman Van Dyke and unanimously carried, there was authorized a $50 00 per month increase for the City Attorney and a $50.00 per month retainer fee for the City Prosecutor. Upon motion of Councilman Arrowood, seconded by Councilman Denni and unanimously carried, there was authorized a $25,00 per month increase for the Secretary to the City Manager and at such time as the work load requires, a salary of $300.00 per month for a 7 -hour work day. -lr May 19, 1960 Upon motion of Councilman Arrowood, seconded by Councilman Van Dyke and unanimously carried, the Council authorized a $2.15 per hour wage rate for the Steno -Clerk in the City Manager's office. Upon motion of Councilman Van Dyke, seconded by Councilman McCarney and unanimously carried, all police officers having one and one-half year tenure with the City of Cypress are to receive a $25.00 per month increase, the police sergeant, a $35.00 per month increase, and the police chief a $30.00 per month increase. All officers of the Department are to work a 40 -hour work week at such time as the Police Chief deems it possible and when adequate personnel is available for relief. RESIGNATION OF CITY CLERK The City Manager read the letter of resignation submitted by City Clerk Martin Olsthoorn to the Cypress City Council Upon motion of Councilman Van Dyke, seconded by Councilman Arrowood and unanimously carried, the Council accepted the City Clerk's resignation and decreed that said resignation would become effective at the time a new City Clerk is appointed by the City Council. Upon motion of Councilman Arrowood, seconded by Council- man Van Dyke and unanimously carried, it was ordered of the City Manager that a letter of appreciation be written to the City Clerk, Martin Olsthoorn.
