OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CYPRESS
August 22, 1960
A special meeting of the City Council of the City of Cypress was
called to order by Mayor Baroldi in the City Hall, 9352 Walker
Street, at 9.30 o'clock A. M.
Councilmen present' W J. Arrowood, J J Denni, M. G. McCarney,
J. Van Dyke and T. A Baroldi
Councilmen absent: None
City officials present City Clerk Gordon, City Manager -Deputy
City Clerk Wesenberg and Deputy City
Attorney Harmon
Mayor Baroldi stated that the purpose of the meeting was to con-
sider the replacement of the City Manager. Mayor Baroldi stated
that he felt that the City has outgrown the stage of having a
part-time City Manager and, since Mr. Wesenberg was hired by the
City of Dairyland first and since he felt an obligation to
Dairyland, he felt that it would be unfair to take Mr. Wesenberg
from them.
Following considerable discussion, it was moved by Councilman
Van Dyke, seconded by Councilman Arrowood, that Mr. Wesenberg
be given two weeks or a month to decide whether he wishes to
stay with the City of Dairyland or the City of Cypress, which
motion failed to carry by a vote of three (3) Noes to two (2)
Ayes (Councilmen Dennis McCarney and Baroldi dissenting).
Mr. Calvin Meekhof, who identified himself as one of the officers
of the Better Government Committee, was recognized by the Chair
and stated that he strongly favored the retention of Mr. Wesenberg
as City Manager.
Mr. John A. Beekman was recognized by the Chair and stated that
he felt that Mr. Wesenberg should have the opportunity to accept
or reject the position.
Mr. Pete Gorzeman was recognized and stated that he felt that
Mr. Wesenberg should be retained as City Manager.

sible legal date for the reason that we need a full-time City
Manager. Said motion was seconded by Councilman McCarney and
carried by a vote of three (3) Ayes to two (2) Noes (Councilman
Arrowood and Councilman Van Dyke dissenting).
