1956-08-27MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DAIRY CITY ON AUGUST 27, '56 MEETING CALLED TO ORDER BY THE MAYOR IN THE COUNCIL MEETING PLACE AT 5731 ORANGE AVE , DAIRY CITY, CALIFORNIA, AT 7:30 PM COUNCILMENT PRESENT. ARNOLD, W AR OWOOD, TOM BAROLDI, J VAN DYKE, J VAN LEEUWEN. COUNCILMEN ABSENT. NONE. OFFICERS PRESENT. CITY MANAGER -DEPUTY CLERK WESENBERG AND DEPUTY ATTORNEY HARMON DEPUTY CLERK READ THE MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING Upon motion of Councilman Baroldi, seconded by Van Leeuwen and unanimously carried the Minutes were accepted as read with the addition to the City Hall _rental section that "If realtor won't take $65 a month for house, city won't take it " LEAGUE OF CITIES Upon motion of Councilman Van Leeuwen, seconded by Baroldi and unanimously carried the Council agveed to join the League of Cities GAMBLING ORDINANCE After discussion, the Anti -gambling ordinance was tabled pending further investigation. GENERAL SERVICES CONTRACT Upon motion of Councilman Baroldi, seconded by Arrowood and unanimously carried the Council authorized the Mayor to execute the 1 year contract with the County for general services. ARNOLD, ARROWOOD, BAROLDI, VAN DYKE, VAN LEEUWEN NOES " NONE ABSENT : " NONE OOSTEN ANNEXATION Upon motion of Councilman Arnold, seconded by b aroldi and unanimously carried the Council authorised the filing of the Ossten Annexation with the stipulation that if the Artesia Land Company did not want to annex to the City, the Annexation would be dropped. INQUIRY A citizen, a Mr Kelley, asked for a variance and was told by the Council to apply with the County. August 27 1956 VESSELS ANNEXATION Upon motion of Councilman Arrowood, seconded by Baroldi and unanimously carried it was Resolved that the Vessels Annexation be initiated by the City HOLDER ANNEXATION Upon motion of Councilman Arnold, seconded by Arrowood and unanimously carried the Holder Street Annexation was tabled and sent to the Advisory Committee for recommendation and, likewise, all other proposed annexations, variances, conditional permits and rezoning requests are to be sent to the Committee for study LOAN Upon motion of Councilman Arnold, seconded by Arrowood and unanimously carried the City was authorized to enter into negotiations with Coast Grain Co. for a $5,000. Loan DEPUTY ATTORNEY Upon motion of Councilman Baroldi, seconded by Arrowood and unanimously carried, Bill Harmon was appointed Deputy City Attorney. ADVISORY COMMITTEE Nominations were opened for the two members at large for the Advisory Committee Those nominated were. Mark Wright, Sam Rosen Frank Ferreira, Mrs J DeBoer and Julio Sierra Secret ballots were marked by the Councilmen to select the two additional members. The City Clerk announced that the two with the most votes were Mr Wright and Mr Ferreira with three votes each De Boer 1, sierra 1, and Rosen 2. Upon motion of Councilman Arrowood, seconded by Van Leeuwen and unani- mously carried the two highest men in the voting were appointed to the Committee Upon motion of Councilman Arrowood, seconded by Van Leeuwen and unanimously carried, the Committeemen are to serve four for four years and three for two years, and those to serve three-year terms are to be decided by lot Those selected by lot to serve two years are* Van Klaveren, Beekman and Jones The remainder shall serve for four years ADJOURNMENT Upon motion of Councilman Arrowood, seconded by Van Leeuwen and August 27 1956 -2_ unanimously carried, the Meeting was adjourned.
