OF NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DAIRY CITY
KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS
That we, the undersigned, being all the Councilmen, by
mutual consent and understanding beforehand, hereby consent to
hold a special meeting of the Council of said City at the Dairy
City City Hall on the 5th day of July, 1957, at the hour of
2.30 P.i'i. of said day, and we agree that all of the acts and
proceedings of said meeting shall be as valid as if had or
taken at a meeting duly and regularly called and noticed
We further waive all notice of the time, place, and
purpose of said meeting, whether required by the laws or
otherwise

MINUTES OF MEETING OF
THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF DAIRY CITY
July 5, 1957
A special meeting of the City Council of the City of Dairy City
was called to order in the City Hall, 9352 Walker Street, at
2 30 P M , with Mayor Van Dyke presiding.

Upon motion duly made and seconded, the reading of the minutes
of the last meeting was waived.
FERTILIZEH STOCK PILE
There came before the Council a Mr. Fox, who stated that he was
looking for a suitable spot where he could store his fertilizer
until he could haul it away The land had to be sandy in order
that he could get his trucks in and out during the rainy season
The Council advised Mr Fox to locate a spot which he judged
suitable, and then come to the Council for their approval
SILVA - SOUSA VARIANCE PROBLEM
The City Manager reported that Mr. Joe Sousa had declined to sign
a deed as required for the variance for the Cypress Auto Wreckers
salvage yard and that the County authorities were threatening to
lock the doors on the salvage yard He reported that there had
been no progress made in -etting Mr Anthony Silva, Jr , to make
the dedication as required by his variance. He stated that the
County had recommended that both of these men be given the same
dedication conditions that Mr. Frank Cardoza was given on his
variance for a dairy, that is, that they be asked to dedicate
land for a street easement only at the time of street widening.
During the ensuing discussion, it was brought out that Mr Cardoza
has put nothing in writing as to the dedication for street ease-
ment Councilman -'rnold suggested that Mr Cardoza be asked to

sign a document, agreeing to dedicate land to the City in case of
street widening. Councilman Arnold moved, seconded by Councilman
Van Leeuwen, and unanimously carried, that the City Manager and
the City Attorney draw up the proper papers and present them at
the next Council meeting, and that the Silva and Sousa variances
be set up the same as Mr Cardoza's regarding the dedication only
in case of street widening
GAS TAX AGREEMENT
The City Manager presented and read Resolution No 27, entitled:
"A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DAIRY CITY
ADOPTING BUDGET AND APPROVING MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT FOR EX-
PENDITURE OF CAS TAX ALLOCATION FOR MAJOR CITY STREETS." He then
read and explained the agreement. Whereupon, it was moved by
Councilman Baroldi, seconded by Councilman Van Leeuwen, and
unanimously carried that Resolution No. 27 be adopted It was
explained that the City did not have to spend these funds each
year, that they could be accumulated, but that, when they were
spent, the City would be required to submit a detailed accounting
of how they were spent.
SALES TAX EXPLANATION
The City Manager explained that the State Board of Equalization
had written a letter of apology for having neglected to send
the monies due the City for sales tax, and had promised that the
monies would be forwarded to the City by the end of the month.
The City Manager stated that the first check should amount to
$250 00, excluding the race track, and would cover the period of
January 1, to May 7, 1957.
PALMISTRY BUSINESS LICENSE REQUEST
The City Manager explained that an application had been made for
a business license for a p amistry reader, to be located on
Lincoln Avenue near the sorghum mill After discussion, it was
moved by Councilman Van Leeuwen, seconded by Councilman Arnold,
and unanimously carried, that an amendment to the business license

ordinance be written, outlawing soothsaying, crystal ball gazing,
palmistry, czrd reading, and like pursuits
SUBDIVISION DIRECTIONAL SIGN
The City Manager stated that a request had been received from the
Park Village Estates for an extension of time of six months for
their directional sign located about nine hundred feet (900') west
of Denni Road on Lincoln Avenue The builder states that about
forty percent of his houses remain unsold. It was stated that the
woman who owns the property on which the sign is located receives
thirty to forty dollars per month rental. It was moved by
Councilman Arnold, seconded by Councilman Van Leeuwen, and unani-
mously carried, that the extension of time be granted.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, upon motion of Councilman Arnold,
seconded by Councilman Baroldi, and unanimously carried, the meeting
was adjourned until the next regular meeting
