August 13, 1957
An adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Dairy City was called to order in the City Hall, 9352 walker
Street, at 7.30 o'clock P. M., with Mayor Van Dyke presiding.
Councilmen present J Van Dyke, J Van Leeuwen, and A E
Arnold
Councilmen absent T A Beroldi and W J Arrowood
City officials present City Manager -Deputy City Clerk Wesenberg
and City Attorney Howell
Upon motion duly made and seconded, the reading of the minutes
of the last meeting was waived.
VOTE CANVASS
The Mayor stated that the purpose of this meeting was to canvass
the votes cast in the special election of August 6 on the question
of changing the name of the City to "Cypress." Thereupon, after
completion of the comparison of signatures, the three absentee
ballots were opened and the ballots placed in the ballot box
Upon counting the absentee ballots, it was found that one (1)
vote had been cast "Aye" and two (2) votes had been cast "No."
With Councilmen Van Leeuwen and Arnold keeping the tally, the
voted ballots were then counted, which count showed that two
hundred eight (208) votes had been cast "Aye" and forty-one
(41) votes had been cast "No." It was determined that this count
tallied with the count of the Election Board Thereupon, it was
moved by Councilman Van Leeuwen, seconded by Councilman Lrnold,
that the Council adopt a resolution, No 30, stating the number
of ballots cast and that a sufficient number of votes had been
cast "Aye" to carry the election, which motion was unanimously
carried by the following roll call vote.

TRAFFIC CONTROL, WALKER AND LINCOLN
Upon motion of Councilman Van Leeuwen, seconded by Councilman
Arnold, the Council adopted Resolution No. 33, requesting the
State Division of Highways to place an electric traffic control
signal at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Walker Street,
which motion was unanimously carried by the following roll call
vote.

Arnold
NOES None
ABSENT Councilmen Arrowood and Baroldi
ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Councilman Van
Leeuwen, and unanimously carried, that the meeting be adjourned
until the next regular meeting
