General discussion was held on the sharine oF ~ervices. The C[~V Council reviewed the current activities of the City work[TlR with adiacent cities to determine where services miniht he cnmbined ~e reduce costs. [t was agreed that the staffs of the City ~nd Dis!riot should investigate the areas of transoortation, sunplies, p~rchas{ng dnd {omputer prosPamminl as possible areas of sharin~ of services. The City Council reviewed the recommendations oF the B]~e Ribbel~ Committee en Proposition 13 regarding the School District assuiTlinR the maintenance responsibilities for the mini parks currently located at Dampen, Vessels, King and Cawthen Schools. The City Council indi- cated Ihat due te the 180 day termination notice requirement, immediate action would be required while further investigation is made of amendinR the agreement with the District. O'he Schee] Beard indicated a willingness te investigate the pessibility of providlnR maintenance on these mini park sites based on makinq a further comparison ef costs and, ~n the case ef the Damron School, contacting the church which has the facility ena lease basis te deteemine they would accept Pesponsib{]itv for the maintenance. City Council ~inutes December ~ 1.978 It was agreed that this entire matter would be taken under study by both the City and District staffs and additional information would he provided to the City Council and School Board. It was moved by Mayor Hudson, seconded bv Councilwoman Evans and unanimously carried that the City Council notify the School Board, p~rsuant to Section 13 of the Joint Powers Agreement between the City and School District dated June 24, 1974, of the intention of the City Council not to renew the aRreement at the expiration of the term of the agreement on June 24, 1979, and that, in the interim, the staf~ o~ the City and School District be requested to determine the costs of the maintenance proRram and reper~ b~ck to the City Council and School Board on su~eested chan~es to the current agreement. ~'urther discussion was held re~ardinR the t~se of other school facili- ties i[~cludin~ the ultimate disposition off Cv[ress School.
