AN ORDINANCE OF TILE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS
REGULATING THE USE OF AND TRAFFIC UPON THE STREETS SIDEWALKS
AND OTHER PUBLIC AND PRIVATE PLACES IN THE CITY OF CYPRESS
THE USE, PARKING AND CONTROL OF VEHICLES THEREON AND REPEALING
ORDINANCE NO. 107 AND ALL ORDINANCES AMENDATORY THEREOF AND
ADOPTING BY REFERENCE, TAE 1964 EDITION OF THE UNIFORM TRAFFIC
ORDINANCE OF THL LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES AS AMENDED
THL CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS DOCS ORDAI: AS FELLOWS
Section 1 Adoption of Uniform Traffic Ordinance.
All of the provisions of the Uniform Traffic Ordinance 1964
Edition, adopted by the League of California Cities, except
sections 2.5 and 2.7 are hereby adopted and made a part of this
ordinance as though fully set forth herein.
Three (3) copies of this Uniform Traffic Ordinance are on file
for use and examination by the public in the office of the
City Clerk of this city
Section 2 City Traffic Engineer
The office of the City Traffic Engineer is hereby established.
The City Traffic Engineer shall be appointed by the City !onager
and he shall exercise the powers and duties as provided in this
ordinance and in the traffic ordinances of this city Whenever
the City Traffic Engineer is required or authorized to place or
maintain official traffic control devices or signals he may
cause such devices or signals to be placed or maintained.
Section 3 Traffic Committee
There is hereby established an advisory Traffic Committee to
serve without compensation consisting of the City Traffic
Engineer the Chief of Police or in his discretion as his
representative the Chief of the Traffic Division and the City
Manager or such representatives as he shall designate and such
number of other City officers and representatives of unofficial
bodies as may be determined and appointed by the Mayor The
chairman of the committee shall be appointed by the Mayor and may
be removed by him.
Section 4 Penalties
Anyperson violating any of the provisions of this ordinance
shall be guilty of a misdemeanor Any person who shall be con-
victed of a violation of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty
of a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine not exceeding
$500 or by imprisonment for not exceeding six months or by
both such fine and imprisonment.
Section 5 Constitutionality
If any section, subsection, sentence clause or phrase of this
ordinance is for any reason held to be unconstitutional such
decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions
of this ordinance, The Council hereby declares that it would
have passed this ordinance and each section sub -section
sentence clause and phrase thereof irrespective of the fact that
any one or more sections subsections sentences clauses or
phrases be declared unconstitutional.
Ordinance No. 250
Section 6. Repeal.
Ordinance No. 107 (former traffic ordinance of the City) of this
City is hereby repealed, and all ordinancesor parts of ordinances
in conflict with or inconsistent with the provisions of this
ordinance are hereby repealed except that this repeal shall not
affect or prevent the prosecution or punishment of any person for
any act done or committed in violation of any ordinance hereby
repealed prior to the effective date of this ordinance.
