Minutes 79-02-28MINUTES OF AN ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OE THE CYPRESS CITY COUNCIL HELD February 28, 1979 The adjourned regular meeting of the Cypress City Council was called to order at 7:48 p.m. on Wednesday, ~ebruarv 28, lq79 in the Board Meeting Room of the Cypress School District, q470 Moody, Cypress, California, Mayor Donald Hudson presiding. PRESENT: ABSENT: Councilmembers Evans, MacLain, Rowan & Hudson Councilman Lacayo JOINT DISCUSSION MEETING WITH CYPRESS SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES: City Manager Darrell Essex presented the joint report from the City Manager and Superintendent regarding crossing guards dated February 28, 1979. It was generally agreed that the recom- mendations contained in the report would be implemented. Mr. Calton presented the joint report on the sharing of services which indicated the City and School District staffs will continue to explore possible sharing of the School District's computer. Application for an intergovernmental grant was suggested. It was indicated that a sharing of the School District's mechanic and electrician by the City is being considered, and the City will share personnel with necessary pesticide and plant control certificates. The report further indicated that the School District will investi- gate possible use of the City's printing services, and areas of shared purchasing are being explored by the City and District staffs. The City Council and Board expressed general agreement with the above recommendations. The City Council and School Board reviewed the report from the City Manager and School Superintendent regarding the maintenance of mini-parks adjacent to the school sites and it was agreed that the School District will review which equipment would be recommended for removal and alterations to grounds for possible assumption by the School District of care for the mini-parks' grounds. Christian Life will be requested to assume care of the Damron mini-park. In reference to the status of the Cypress School, the School Board advised that the School District is holding off on a decision to lease or sell Cypress School until after the unification status is known. The School Board members summarized the status of the unification proposal and it was agreed that the Mayor would speak in support of the proposal at the March 7 public hearing by the County. The City Council also indicated to the Board that the City Council Chambers would be made available for this hearing.
