Resolution No. 18641 RESOLUTION NO 1864 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS SUPPORTING S B 792 WHEREAS, it is fitting and right that all people are able to satisfy their need for continuous self -education, cultural and spiritual enrichment, information and recreation; and WHEREAS, public libraries offer the means for such personal enrichment, achievement and pleasure by providing a free and convenient access to the sources of ideas and information. and WHEREAS the rapid growth of knowledge and the increasing complexity of our society has resulted in needs for materials and information which go beyond the ability of any one library to provide. and WHEREAS Senator John F Dunlap has introduced, into the California State Legislature, S B 792 - The California Library Services Act - which would provide for State support to broaden and equalize library and information resources available to the citizens of California, and WHEREAS, S B 792 recognizes that the sharing of resources can make needed materials and information available to all citizens without costly duplication NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Cypress, that the passage of S B 792 would be in the interests of our citizens in their pursuit of knowledge and personal achievement and further instructs the City Clerk to send copies of this Resolution to our elected representatives in Sacramento urging their support of S B 792 PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Cypress at a regular meeting held on the 27th day of June 1977.
