HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 2117128 RESOLUTION NO 2117 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS SUPPORTING THE RIGHT OF THE VOTERS TO DECIDE WHETHER THEY WANT A UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT WHEREAS the educational interests of students living within Cypress School District boundaries are best met by an articulated kindergarten through grade twelve educational program, and WHEREAS, there has been widespread community interest and involvement in studying school district organization during the last two years, and WHEREAS, the needs of students can be better met by a smaller school district governed by local board members, and WHEREAS, the crucial educational decisions of school closures, proficiency standards, curriculum offerings and extracurricular activities can be better determined on a local basis to meet the needs and interests of the students and the community, and WHEREAS, there would be no increase in local property taxes, while there would be more funds available per student in a locally unified school district, and WHEREAS, the local voters should be given the opportunity to decide the desired organization of their school district. and WHEREAS, the Orange County Committee on School District Organization has approved the proposed Unification Plan. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Cypress supports the citizens of Cypress School District having the right to vote on whether they prefer a Unified School District PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Cypress at a regular meeting held on the 25th day of June 1979 MAYOR OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS ATTEST.
