Minutes 2001-06-19 (Rec Comm)MINUTES OF AN ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE CYPRESS CITY COUNCIL HELD June 19, 2001 The adjourned regular meeting of the Cypress City Council and Recreation and Community Services Commission was called to order at 5:37 p.m. by Mayor Pro Tem Sondhi in the Board Room, West Wing of City Hall, 5275 Orange Avenue, Cypress, California. PRESENT: Council Members Keenan, Piercy, and Mayor Pro Tern Sondhi Commissioners Fowler, Luebben, and Wostenberg ABSENT: Council Member McCoy and Mayor McGill Commissioners Bornstein, Preston, Vice Chair Bloch, and Chair Woodson Also present were City Manager, Assistant to the City Manager, and Deputy City Clerk. The meeting was recessed at 5:37 p.m. due to lack of a quorum of the Recreation and Community Services Commission. The meeting was recOnvened at 6:03 p.m. without a quorum of the Recreation and Community Services Commission for purpose of discussion only: 1) Wicker Drive Proposal, 2) Future Council/Commission Workshop, 3) Commission's Preliminary Workplan for Fiscal Year 2001-2002, and 4) Skatepark. Commissioner Leubben stated the Commission is interested in developing a dialogue with the City Council and finding out where the Commission should be focusing their efforts. He asked what involvement, if any, does the Council see the Commission having with the current Wicker Drive proposal. Council Member Piercy stated the only area established at this time is an agreement on the concept of the project. Mayor Pro Tern Sondhi commended staff on the excellent job of getting input to develop the proposals brought before the City Council. Further discussion was held regarding the proposed development of the Wicker Drive property. Commissioner Wostenberg asked if future Council/Commission workshops were being considered. Mayor Pro Tem Sondhi stated staff will check with other the commissions to see if there is a need/desire to have more workshops. The Assistant to the City Manager stated that at the last workshop thero were many new commissioners and the purpose of the workshop was to define the role of the commissioner. Commissioner Fowler stated the City needs a skatepark larger than 4,000 square feet for the children in the community.
