The Public Works Director stated the Traffic Commission has spent a lot of time on the issue of oversized vehicles and the creation of an ordinance and procedures. The concern at this time is the Police Department's ability to deal with permit enforcement and revocation of permits from abusers. The Police Lieutenant stated the Police Department is looking into modifying their procedure for the number of permits issued to help with the abuse issue. The way the ordinance is currently worded, there isn't a way to revoke or deny the permits. Mayor Pro Tern Sondhi asked if the City has a tracking mechanism to know who has a boat or recreational vehicle in the City. The Police Lieutenant stated there isn't any licensing necessary in the City, however, the owners of oversized vehicles who have received permits are kept in a database. The Public Works Director stated the Council previously received information about the Denni Street extension at a workshop session. He stated the section of unimproved land that would be needed for the extension is in the City of Cypress and would affect the golf course and race track.
