Chairperson Pena stated the activities held during 2000-2001 were the Halloween
Carnival, Adopt-A-Family, Youth Art Show, Youth in Government Day, and Easter Egg

Tournament could not be held because of scheduling issues. All of the events are
scheduled for the next fiscal year except for Youth in Government Day, which is held
every other year.
Commissioner Malkina stated if more time is given next year for planning and
promotion, the Teen Concert should be successful.
The Recreation Supervisor stated the Commission had discussed having the Teen
Concert be a part of the Youth Art Show and not a stand-alone event to help increase
participation.
The Mayor Pro Tem suggested listing the Youth Commission events in the quarterly
recreation brochure to help with promotion.
The Commissioners asked for a status on the skate park project.
Council Member Keenan stated the Environmental Impact Report had to be revised and
is now available for public review for 45 days. At the end of the review period, the
project will be brought before the City Council. He stated there is a potential for a skate
