RESOLUTION NO. 3967
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS
COMMENDING BARBARA MARIE 'BOBBIE' BLOCH FOR
HER 25 YEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO THE CITY OF CYPRESS
WHEREAS Barbara Marie Bloch, known to all her friends as
'Bobbie is a native of New York where she graduated from Plattsburgh
High School and was a member of the Plattsburgh Symphony Orchestra as
a violinist for four years and
WHEREAS Bobbie and Lawrence Bloch have been married for over
30 years and are the proud parents of Adrienne and Curtis and even
prouder grandparents of two grandchildren, and
WHEREAS upon relocating to the City of Cypress, Bobbie
became an active member of the Woman s Club of Cypress served as its
President in 1984/85 and virtually every position in the organization,
including chairing the Scholarship Urban & Rural Affairs, Visual Art,
and Cypress Beautification Poster Contest Committees and
WHEREAS, Bobbie was an active member of the Cypress Chamber
of Commerce for over 18 years having served on its Board of Directors
and as an official Ambassador and
WHEREAS, Bobbie was a Charter member of the Cypress Cultural
Arts Association, where she served on its Board of Directors, chaired
the Bylaws and Program Committees and served as First Vice President
and Historian, and
WHEREAS in May 1983 Bobbie was appointed by the Cypress
City Council to serve on the Traffic Commission and was reappointed to
the Commission in 1987 during which time she was elected by her
fellow Commissioners to serve as Chairperson for 1986/87 and 1990/91
and
WHEREAS in 1985 Bobbie was selected as the City of Cypress
recipient of the Cypress College s Americana Award and
WHEREAS Bobbie is a Founding member of The Friends of the
Cultural Arts, served as its Chairperson in 1988-1990 and Bobbie is
also a member of the Cypress Civic Theatre Guild and
WHEREAS, Bobbie has served as the energetic Public Relations
Chairperson for the Cypress Community Festival for the past four
years and
WHEREAS, in July 1987 Bobbie was a member of The Friends of
Darrell Committee which was formed to honor Darrell Essex for his 25
years as City Manager for the City of Cypress and
WHEREAS, the Cypress City Council appointed Bobbie to serve
on the City's General Plan Citizens Advisory Committee in November
1990 and
WHEREAS Bobbie has received accolades from the California
Senate and the Orange County Board of Supervisors for her many years
of community service, and
WHEREAS the City of Cypress is indeed very fortunate to have
a citizen of Bobbie s caliber as a member of the community
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cypress City Council
does hereby commend BARBARA MARIE 'BOBBIE' BLOCH for her 25 years of
service to the community and extend the City s sincere appreciation
for her dedication and outstanding contributions to the City of
Cypress
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Cypress
at a regular meeting held on the 22nd day of July 1991
