RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS
APPROVING VARIANCE NO V-217 (SHATTUCK CONSTRUCTION COMPANY)
WHEREAS the Cypress Planning Commission held a public hearing on
Thursday, January 6, 1966, at 7:30 n.m in the Council Chambers, 5311 Orange
Avenue, Cypress, California, to consider an application for variance from
the Sign Ordinance No 185 to permit a temporary sign advertising Tract No
5072 on property generally located at the northeast corner of Bloomfield
Street and Ball Road, requested by Shattuck Construction Company, 2953 54th
Street, San Diego, California, (Robert W. Helms, M. D., owner of property),
known as Variance No V-217, and,
WHEREAS one person appeared in favor of the request and no protests
were heard, and,
WHEREAS the Planning Commission determined that the selling of homes
within the community enhances rather than detracts from the dommunity,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Commission approve Variance
No V-217 subject to the following conditions.
1. A 20' setback shall be maintained along Bloomfield and Ball Road
measured from the ultimate right-of-way line
2 The billboard shall be maintained and kept in good condition by
the owner of the sign
3. This sign shall be used only to advertise the properties in
Tract No 5072
4 A $250 cash bond shall be posted with the City guaranteeing removal
of the billboard at the termination of the variance
5. This sign shall he removed 18 months after the granting of the
permit

WHEREAS the Cypress City Planning Commission held a public hearing
on Thursday, January 6, 1966 at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers, 5311 Orange
Avenue, Cypress, California, to consider an application for variance from
the Sign Ordinance No 185 to permit a temporary sign advertising Tract
No 5072 on property generally located at the northwest corner of Valley View
Street and Orange Avenue, requested by Shattuck Construction Company,

WHEREAS one person appeared in favor of the proposed variance and

WHEREAS the Commission determined that the selling of homes within

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Variance No V-218 be approved,
subject to the following conditions.
1. The existing sign shall be removed from the property prior
to the issuance of the building permit

WHEREAS the Cypress City Planning Commission held a public hearing
on Thursday, January 20, 1966 at 7:30 p.m , in the Council Chambers,
5311 Orange Avenue, Cypress, California, to consider the rezoning of
approximately 38 acres of property from P -D (Planned Development) to P -C
(Planned Commercial), generally located at the southwest corner of Ball Road
and Valley View Street, initiated by the Cypress Planning Commission, known
as Zone Change No Z-147, and,
WHEREAS three people addressed the Commission making inquiries, no
one spoke in favor of the request and no protests were heard, and,

WHEREAS the Cypress City Planning Commission held a public hearing
on Thursday, December 16, 1965 and Thursday, January 20, 1966 at 7.30 p m ,
in the Council Chambers, 5311 Orange Avenue, Cypress, California, to consider
an application for amendment to the Zoning Ordinance to change the zone

WHEREAS the Cypress City Planning Commission held a public hearing

variance to increase the height of the block wall along Moody Street, at
the rear of Lots 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14 of Tract No. 5337 from the
standard height limit of six feet (6') to a height of six feet, eleven inches
(6'11") requested by Barkley Development Co , Moody at Park Ave , Cypress,
California, known as Variance No. V-219, and,
WHEREAS two people addressed the Commission speaking in favor of the
request and no protests were heard, and,

WHEREAS the Cypress City Planning Commission held a public hearing
to consider an application for variance to allow a reduction in the number
of off-street parking spaces required and a reduction in required landscaping
for a market, generally located on the north side of Orange Avenue, easterly
of Valley View Street, requested by Tic Toc Market Inc , 12311 Chapman,

WHEREAS the Cypress City Planning Commission held a public hearing
on Thursday, February 3, 1966, at 7:30 p m., in the Council Chambers
5311 Orange Avenue Cypress California, to consider an application for
Modification of Conditional Use Permit No C-166 to construct townhouses on
property generally located south of Orange Avenue, north of Ball Road, east
of Bloomfield Street, and west of Denni Street, requested by Larwin Company
9300 Wilshire Blvd., Beverly Hills, California known as Modification of
Conditional Use Permit No. C-166 and
WHEREAS one person appeared in favor of the proposed modification and
no protests were heard, and,
WHEREAS the Planning Commission determined that the use applied for at
the location set forth in the application is properly one for which a
Conditional Use Permit is authorized by the Zoning Ordinance, and,
WHEREAS the Commission further determined that the said use is necessary

1. All drainage fees shall he paid
2 Ball, Denni, Orange and Bloomfield shall be dedicated and improved
to City standards
3. The street names as indicated are not anproved Lawrence Avenue
shall be Tanglewood Drive, William Drive shall he Montara Drive;
Michael Court shall be known as Granada Court. James Drive shall
be known as Waverly Drive. Allen Road shall he Florencia Road.
Frederick Court shall be Chelsea Court, Douglas Court shall be
Mediterrania Court, Sean Court shall be St Tropez Court
4 The curves in Bloomfield and Bali Road shall be realigned the
realignment to he approved by the City Engineer
5 The east curb of the Tanglewood Development to be aligned with the
east curb of Tract 5072 along Somerset Drive
6 A six foot (6') high masonry wall shall be built along Bloomfield
Denni, Orange, and Ball Road, in areas where units back up to
major arterial highways, this wall to he approved by the City
staff
7 Boat and storage areas shall he indicated on the landscaping plans
and approved by the City staff.
8 All trash area locations shall be indicated on the landscape plan
approved by the City staff.
9 The Orange Avenue parkway shall be landscaped and an automatic
sprinkler system provided, the design to he approved by the City
Engineer
10 A minimum of five recreation areas shall be provided in the
development, the size and content of the recreation areas to
be approved by the City staff
11 All end units on a front to end situation shall be one story
12 All roadways and alleyways shall be improved to the edge of the
garage slab to City standards, however, only the middle 26' of
the alleyway shall be dedicated to the City
13 All general conditions on previously approved Conditional Use
Permits which are not in direct conflict with the conditions
as outlined or on the accompanying plans for this Modification
shall he in full force and effect
14. Drainage to be solved to the satisfaction of the City Engineer

WHEREAS the Cypress City Planning Commission held a public hearing
on Thursday, February 3, 1966 at 7.30 p m , in the Council Chambers,
5311 Orange Avenue, Cypress, California, to consider an application for
conditional use permit to allow the construction of two structures on
R-3 (Multiple -family Residential) zoned property, generally located at
6452 Orange Avenue, requested by Peter A Giovannoni, 1784 West Alomar,
Anaheim, California, known as Conditional Use Permit No. C-192, and,
WHEREAS three people spoke in favor of the proposed use and no
protests were heard, and,
WHEREAS the Planning Commission determined that the site for the proposed
use is adequate in size and shape to accommodate said use and all yards,

required by this Ordinance to adjust said use with land and uses in the

6. An additional trash collection area shall be provided along the

7. The structures shall meet fire zone #2 building requirements
8 Drainage to be solved to the satisfaction of the City Engineer.
9. Alley turnarounds shall be provided, subject to the City staff's
approval as to location and type at the northerly parking area

WHEREAS the City of Cypress has heretofore adopted a Master Plan of
Drainage for the City; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Cypress, at a duly
noticed public hearing has considered the proposed amendment of said Master
Plan of Drainage, said amendment pertaining to the portion of the City
heretofore designated Drainage Districts 1-A, 1-B 3-N 3-0 and 3-P• and
WHEREAS, the boundaries of the proposed amendment, as well as
the boundaries of the aforesaid Drainage Districts and a revision of the
facilities proposed therefor are described and depicted on that certain
document now on file with the City Clerk entitled "Study of Master Plan

Trindle and Nelson, Inc., and the Director of Public Works of the City of

WHEREAS the Cypress City Planning Commission held a public hearing
on Thursday, May 5, 1966 at 7:30 p.m. to consider a proposed revision of
Drainage District 3 -SQ of the Master Plan of Drainage, which District
is bounded generally on the northwest by the Bolsa Chica Channel; on the
north by a line approximately 600 feet north of the centerline of Orangewood
Avenue, on the east by Knott Street• and on the south and west by the
Cypress City boundary, initiated by the Cypress Planning Commission, and,
WHEREAS, at the public hearing of the Planning Commission, the
proposed revisions were reviewed by the Director of Public Works of the

WHEREAS the Cypress City Planning Commission held a public hearing on
Thursday, May 26, 1966, at 7.30 p m , in the Council Chambers, 5311 Orange
Avenue Cypress, California, to consider an application for conditional use
permit to allow the construction of model homes for Tract No 6194 on property
generally located at the northeast corner of Walker Street and Ball Road
requested by Peter Gorzeman, 9922 Walker Street, Cypress, Calif., (Robert M
Galloway, authorized agent, 504 N Newport Blvd., Newport Beach, Calif ),
known as Conditional Use Permit No C-194, and,
WHEREAS one person appeared in favor of the request and no protests
were heard, and,
WHEREAS the Planning Commission determined that the use applied for at
the location set forth in the application is property one for which a
Conditional Use Permit is authorized by the Zoning Ordinance, and,
WHEREAS the Commission further determined that the said use is necessary
or desirable for the development of the community, in harmony with the various
elements or objectives of the Zoning Ordinance, and is not detrimental to
existing uses or to uses specifically permitted in the zone in which the
proposed use is to be located,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission recommend

1 That full improvements he installed on Ball Road to the centerline

2 A bond shall be posted with the City of Cypress guaranteeing
removal of the dwellings and improvements. The bond amount shall
be established by the City staff
3 All sliding glass doors which are placed in garages shall be removed
prior to the release of the bond.
4 The ultimate utilities shall be installed in Ball Road prior to
paving
5. The developer shall provide a sewer lateral to the property line
for the sales office
6 This Permit shall be granted for a two year time limit The time
limit may he extended by the Planning Commission upon request of
the developer
7 The parking area as indicated on the plan, shall be of asphaltic
concrete striped and maintained
8 The Planning Commission may shorten the time limit on the Conditional
Use Permit if the sales area and model site is not used for a period
of 120 days
9 Drainage fees shall be paid on that portion of the model site not
included in Tract 61.94
10. Drainage to be solved to the satisfaction of the City Engineer.

WHEREAS the Cypress City Planning Commission held a public hearing
on Thursday, May 26, 1966, at 7:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers, 5311 Orange
Avenue, Cypress, California, to consider an application for conditional use
permit to allow the construction of a temporary model home sales area for
Tract No 4377, which is generally located at the southeast corner of Valley
View Street and Orange Avenue, requested by Larwin Company, 9300 Wilshire
Blvd , Beverly Hills, California (for Dell Homes, owner of property), known

WHEREAS one person spoke in favor of the request, one inquiry was made,

RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS
RECOMMENDING APPROVAL OF ZONE CHANGE NO Z-151 (INITIATED
BY THE CYPRESS PLANNING COMMISSION)
WHEREAS, the Cypress City Planning Commission held a public
hearing on Thursday, July 21, 1966, at 7.30 p m , in the Council Chambers,
5172 Orange Avenue, Cypress, California, to consider an application for an
amendment to the Zoning Ordinance No 90 to delete the C -C (Civic Center
Zone) from property generally located 242 feet south of the centerline of
Orange Avenue extending westerly from Walker Street approximately 1,000
feet and having a width of 100 feet as initiated by the Cite of Cypress
Planning Commission known as Zone Change No. Z-151 and,
WHEREAS, no one appeared in favor of a request and no protests
were heard, and,
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission determined that the deletion of
this zone from the subject property did not jeopardize the Civic Center
construction or future Civic Center uses in the area, and,
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission further determined that the C -C
(Civic Center Zone) was of sufficient depth northerly of the subject
property to buffer anv adverse effects from the development of the subject
property
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that said proposed amendment be
recommended to the City Council for approval

APPROVING CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT NO C-198, CYPRESS SCHOOL DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the Cypress City Planning Commission held a public hearing on
Thursday, August 18, 1966, and Thursday September 15, 1966, at 7:30 p m ,
in the Council Chambers, located at 5172 Orange Avenue, Cypress, California, to
consider an application for a conditional use permit to allow the
construction of an elementary school to serve 400 children, consisting
of 10 classrooms, 2 kindergartens, administrative office, library, and
cafeteria/multipurpose room, on property generally located at 5851 Newman St ,
referred to as Cypress School Site #16, requested by Cypress School District,
5202 Lincoln Avenue, Cypress, California, known as Conditional Use Permit
No C-198, and,
WHEREAS no one appeared to speak in favor of the request and no protests
were heard, and,
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission determined that the use applied for at
the location set forth in the application is properly one for which a
Conditional Use Permit is authorized by the Zoning Ordinance, and,
WHEREAS, the Commissioner further determined that the said use is necessary
or desirable for the development of the community, in harmony with the
various elements or objectives of the Zoning Ordinance, and is not detrimental
to existing uses or to uses specifically permitted in the zone in which
the proposed use is to be located
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission approve
Conditional Use Permit No C-198, subject to the following conditions:
1 Newman Street shall be improved in accordance with City Standards
2 Camp Street shall be dedicated from the centerline south and shall
he improved in a logical terminus with a dead end street provided,
in an amount allowed by the State These improvements shall he
subject to the approval of the City staff
3 The drainage along the south side of the railroad right-of-way
shall be diverted into a back opening catch basin to be located
at the easterly end of Newman Street, design of the catch basin
and diversion structure to be approved by the City Engineer.
4 Street trees shall be provided
5. Drainage fees shall be paid in an amount allowed by the State.

APPROVING MODIFICATION OF CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT NO C-137,
ST IRENAEUS CATHOLIC CHURCH & SCHOOL
WHEREAS, the Cypress City Planning Commission held a public hearing on
Thursday, September 15, 1966, at 7 30 p m , in the Council Chambers, located
at 5172 Orange Avenue, Cypress, California, to consider an application for
revising the traffic pattern to comply with new street locations on the plot
plan of Conditional Use Permit No. C-137, and for approval of the location
of structures for 9201 Grindlay Street, St Irenaeus Catholic Church and
School, requested by the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Los Angeles,
1500 West 9th Street, Los Angeles, California, (Reverend Peter C Caslin,
Pastor, St Irenaeus Parish authorized agent), known as Modification of
Conditional Use Permit No C-137, and,
WHEREAS, no one appeared speaking in favor of the request and no protests
were heard and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission determined that the Modification of
the Conditional Use Permit C-137 was necessary to bring the plot plan for
Conditional Use Permit up to date with the construction that had taken place
on the site, and,
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission further determined that the Modification
was also necessary because of a change in ingress and egress to the property
due to the construction of Evergreen Avenue in Tract 5337,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission approve
Modification of Conditional Use Permit No. C-137, subject to the following
conditions.
1. The driveway at the westerly end of the property shall only be
used for ingress and egress from malor Church functions
2 If the most westerly drive on the north side of Evergreen Avenue
is used, it shall be redesigned and reconstructed to provide
safety vision angles, as approved by the City staff
3 The most westerly driveway on the north side of Evergreen Avenue
shall only be used by vehicles coming from or going to the convent
and shall not he used for ingress and egress by parishoners during
major Church functions
4 If the most westerly drive on the north side of Evergreen Avenue
is not used the driveway shall be removed and replaced with a
standard curb, gutter, and sidewalk.
5 During major Church functions left hand turns are not permitted for
vehicles exiting at the westerly end of the property, and right
hand turns are prohibited for vehicles exiting at the most easterly
driveway on the north side of Evergreen Avenue

APPROVING VARIANCE NO V-233, DELL HOMES, INC
WHEREAS, the Cypress City Planning Commission held a public hearing
on Thursday, September 15, 1966, at 7:30 n m ,in the Council Chambers,
located at 5172 Orange Avenue, Cypress, California, to consider an
application for variance from the Zoning Ordinance No 90, Section 107.6
Subsection "C", to allow construction of an aluminum screened pool
enclosure over a swimming pool, covering more of the required rear yard
than allowed and encroaching into the required 10' rear yard setback,
on property generally located at the southeast corner of Valley View
Street and Orange Avenue, known as Lot No 27 of Tract No. 4377, requested
by Dell Homes, Inc , (Larwin Co.) 9300 Wilshire Blvd , Beverly Hills,
California, known as Variance No V-233, and,
WHEREAS, one person appeared speaking in favor of the requested
variance, and no protests were heard, and,
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission determined that such conditions have
been imposed upon the issuance of the variance as will insure that the
variance hereby authorized does not constitute a grant of special privilege
inconsistent with the limitations upon other properties in the
vicinity and zone in which subject property is situated and,
WHEREAS, the Commission further determined that the granting of the
variance will not be materially detrimental to the public welfare or

1 That Only the fiberglass screening shall be attached to the

2 Only a flameproof material shall be used.
3 The height of the structure shall not exceed eleven feet (11')
4 No window glass or solid materials shall be added to the existing
screening in the future
5. At the time of the sale of the house, the fence, irrigation system
and landscaping now existing shall be installed to serve only
the lot under consideration for this Variance.

variance from the Sign Ordinance to allow the erection of a double-faced
10' x 10' temporary subdivision directional sign on property generally
located on the west side of Valley View Street, approximately 250' south of
Orange Avenue, requested by Melven Censer, 5321 Vineland, North Hollywood,
California, known as Variance No V-234, and,
WHEREAS, one person appeared speaking in favor of the variance and no
protests were heard, and,
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission determined that the granting of the
variance would not be materially detrimental to the public welfare or
injurious to property and improvements in the zone and vicinity in which
the property is located, and,
WHEREAS, the Commission further determined that the granting of such a

5 This Variance is granted only for an eighteen (18) month period,
at which time the Planning Commission may extend the Variance
6. The sign shall not he illumitiated.

Thursday, October 6, 1966, at 7.30 p m , in the Council Chambers, located
at 9471 South Walker Street, Cypress, California, to consider an application
for conditional use permit to allow the construction of a neighborhood
shopping center, to include a major supermarket service stores, and a
service station, in a P -D (Planned Development) zone, on property generally
located at the southeast corner of Bloomfield Street and Ball Road, requested
by Valiant Investment Company, 9300 Wilshire Blvd , Beverly Hills, California,
known as Conditional Use Permit No C-199, and,
WHEREAS,one person appeared speaking in favor of the requested permit

of Conditional Use Permit No C-199 to the City Council, subject to the
following conditions.
1 Drainage shall be solved to the satisfaction of the City Engineer
2 All drainage fees shall be paid
3 Bloomfield Street and Ball Road shall be dedicated and fully
improved in accordance with the Master Plan of Streets and Highways
Paving shall be to the centerline of Bloomfield Street and Ball
Road That portion of this condition in reference to paving to
the centerline shall only be imposed if not already covered by
the approval of Tract No 6052 or other agreements previously made
between the developer and the City of Cypress
4 The C-2 parking requirements shall be met.
5 No walls shall be constructed between the service station and
the remainder of the development
6 Grading and paving of the service station site shall match that
of the total parking area of the commercial development
7 At least 2% of the parking area shall be landscaped
8 A six foot (6') high ornamental concrete block wall shall be
constructed and maintained along the easterly boundary of the
development Design of the wall shall be approved by the Planning
Department
9 An ornamental concrete block wall shall be constructed along Larwin
Avenue The design and height of the wall shall be approved by the
Planning Department
10 Architectural elevations of the commercial development shall be
submitted to the Planning Department for approval nrior to the
issuance of a building permit These elevations shall be designed
so it will not detract from the Tanglewood Townhouses.
11 No truck traffic is allowed ingress or egress from Larwin Avenue
The drive approaches to Larwin Avenue shall be so designed as to
discourage truck movements to and from Larwin Avenue.

WHEREAS, the Cypress City Planning Commission held a public hearing on
Thursday, October 20, 1966 at 7.30 p m , in the Council Chambers, located
at 9471 South Walker Street, Cypress, California, to consider an application
for amendment to the Zoning Ordinance No 90 to change the zone of a certain
parcel of land from C-2 (General. Commercial) to R-1 (One -family Residential),
generally located at the northeast corner of Moody Street and Cerritos Avenue,
requested by Larwin Fund, 9300 Wilshire Blvd, Beverly Hills, California,
known as Zone Change No Z-152, and,
WHEREAS, no one addressed the Commission speaking in favor or in
opposition to the proposed change of zone, and,
WHEREAS, one informal petition from fifteen surrounding property
owners was received objecting; but not stating a specific reason for objecting
to the proposed change of zone, and,
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission determined that the subject property
would have difficulty developing to an ultimate C-2 use, dui to the lack
of purchasing power by the fact that the Los Alamitos Race Course was located
immediately south of the subject property, and created a void in the trading
area,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission recommend

WHEREAS, one person appeared speaking in favor of the requested variance
and no protests were heard and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission determined that because of special
circumstances or unusual hardship applicable to subject property, including
size, shape, topography, location or surroundings, the strict application of
the Zoning Ordinance is found to deprive subject property of privileges
enjoyed by other properties in the vicinity and under identical zone
classification, and,
WHEREAS, the Commission further determined that such conditions have been
imposed upon the issuance of the variance as will insure that the variance
thereby authorized does not constitute a grant of special privilege
inconsistent with the limitations upon other properties in the vicinity and
zone in which subject property is situated,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission approve
Variance No. V-238 subject to the following conditions:
1 The applicant shall agree to bring the block wall to meet the
requirements of the City Code if any access for motor vehicles
is provided on the easterly portion of the lot westerly of his
property
2 The applicant shall sign a Memorandum of Variance Conditions as
prepared by the City staff.
3 No automobile or truck traffic shall be allowed ingress or
egress through the gate or over the sidewalk, as indicated on the
plot plan
4 No driveway is allowed from the gate

RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS
APPROVING CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT NO C-200, NORTH ORANGE COUNTY
JUNIOR COLLEGE DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the Cypress City Planning Commission held a public hearing
on Thursday, November 4, 1966, and Thursday, November 17, 1966, at 7:30 p m ,
in the Council Chambers, located at 9471 South Walker Street, Cypress,
California, to consider an application for conditional use permit to allow
the construction of a junior college, known as Cypress Junior College, on
property generally located south of Lincoln Avenue, east of Valley View Street
north of Orange Avenue, and west of Holder Street, requested by North Orange
County Junior College District, 1000 North Lemon Street, Fullerton,
(L W Wheatley, Admin Assistant, authorized agent), known as Conditional
Use Permit No C-200, and,
WHEREAS, no one appeared speaking in favor or in opposition to the
proposed use, and,
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission determined that the use applied for
at the location set forth in the application is properly one for which a
Conditional Use Permit is authorized by the Zoning Ordinance, and,
WHEREAS the Commission further determined that the site for the
intended use is adequate in size and shape to accommodate said use and all
yards, setbacks, walls, or fences, landscaping, and other features required in
order to adjust said use to those existing or possible future uses on land
in the neighborhood,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission approve
Conditional Use Permit No C-200, subject to the following condition:
The Junior College District shall participate equally
with the City of Cypress in the cost of any future
signalization along streets adjacent to the College
site required principally because of traffic generated
by the Cypress Junior College, as permitted by law

DENYING VARIANCE NO V-240, COLUMBIA OUTDOOR ADVERTISING
WHEREAS, the Cypress City Planning Commission held a public hearing on
Thursday, November 17th, 1966, at 7 30 p m , in the Council Chambers, located
at 9471 South Walker Street, Cypress, California, to consider an application
for variance from the Sign Ordinance to allow the erection of an 8' x 12'
subdivision directional sign on property generally located on the south
side of Cerritos Avenue at Walker Street, reouested by Columbia Outdoor
Advertising, 14575 East Firestone, La Mirada, California, (Sam Ormont,
4366 Alcoa St , Los Angeles, owner of property) known as Variance No V-240,
and,
WHEREAS, one person appeared speaking in favor of the reouest and no
protests were heard, and,
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission determined that the sign for which the
Variance was requested had already been illegally constructed by the applicant
after they had been informed by the Building Superintendent that a permit
could not be issued on the billboard until permission had been granted by
the Planning Commission through procedures outlined in the City Code and
WHEREAS, the Commission further determined that the applicant, being fully
informed of the fact a permit could not he issued for the sign, proceeded to
install said sign, completely disregarding the advice of the Superintendent
of Building and Safety, and,
WHEREAS, the Commission further determined that imposing the requirements
of the City Code did not impose a hardship on the applicant that would deprive
them of privileges enjoyed by other property owners in the vicinity and under
identical zone classification
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission deny
Variance No V-240.
