Recommendation: That the Mayor and City Council Proclaim the Week of September 17-23, 1978, as "Leukemia Week" in the City of Cypress.
Consideration of Application for Waiver of Admission Tax, St. John the
Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, and a Request that September 9 and 10,
~~~ 1978, be Proclaimed "Greek Festival Days" in the Ct~y of Cypress-
~Recommendation: That the City Council waive the admission tax requirements and
all other fees for the St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in connec-
tion with their festival to be held on September 9 and 10, 1978, at Los Alamitos
Race Track. This action by the City Council of waiving fees in no way ex-
cuses or excludes compliance with the requirements of the State Department
of Alcoholic Beverage Control or compliance with the provisions of Section
13 of the Zoning Ordinance which would require the applicants to obtain a
~ special use permit, at no fee, from the Planning Department. It is further
recommended tha~ the Mayor and the City Council proclaim the 9th and 10th of
September, 1978, as "Greek Festival Days" in the City of Cypress.

Recommendation: That the City Council, acting as the ex officio governing
Board of Directors for the Cypress Recreation and Park District, officially
deny the subject claim and refer the claim to the City's Claim Adjuster,
Carl Warren and Company, for appropriate disposition.
9. Consideration of a Request to Proclaim Labor Day, September 4, 1978, as
"Jerry Lewis Telethon for Muscular Dystrophy Day" in the City of Cypress.
Recommendation: That the Mayor and City Council Proclaim Labor Day, September
4, 1978, as "Jerry Lewis Telethon for Muscular Dystrophy Day" in the City
of Cypress.
10. Consideration of a Request to Participate in a Viet-Nam Veterans' Memorial
Fund.
Recommendation: In light of the various fiscal constraints faced by the
City as a result of the passage of Proposition 13, Staff recommends that
the Council receive and file this proposal. However, if the Council de-
sires to contribute towards this effort, then the City Council should
designate an amount to be allocated.
11. Consideration of Designation of Alternate to the Orange County Health
Planning Council.
Recommendation: If the City Council wishes to designate an alternate for
attendance at the Orange County Health Planning Council meetings that an
alternate be designated as deemed appropriate by the Council. Staff has
no recommendations on this matter with respect to specific individuals.
12. Consideration of a Request for Authorization to Employ Two C.E.T.A.
Traffic Control Aides (Part-time).
Recommendation: In order to effectively implement the C~ty Council's
directlye in this area Staff recommends that the City Council authorize
the employment and filling of these two C.E.T.A. part-time positions.
Consideration of an Application for a Person-to-Person Transfer of an
Alcoholic Beverage License for Sineth Om and Reng N.M.N. Thach, D.B.A.
Calva Dairy, 6297 Ball Road, Cypress.
Recommendation: Receive and file.
Consideration of a Request by the Camp Fire Girls of Orange County to Con-
duct a Fund Raising Drive in the City of Cypress.
~15. Consideration of Bids for Orange Avenue Improvements from 640' West of
Grindlay Street to Graham Street and Part of the West gide of Graham
Street, City of Cypress Project Number 7667-10-0911.
Recommendation: That the City Council reject the bid of Sully-Miller
Contracting Company and authorize the City Clerk to re-advertise for new
bids with bids to be opened for the storm drain portion on September 15,
1978, at 10:00 a.m., and bids for the street and traffic signal portion to
be opened on November 7, 1978, at 10:00 a.m.
Recommendation: That the City Council grant the request of the Orange
County Council of Camp Fire Girls to conduct $ candy sale in the City
of Cypress from January 24, 1979, through February 21, 1979, and that
they be granted an exemption from a Special Permit pursuant to Section
15-57 A(1)(b) of the City Code.
