RESOLUTION NO. 6699
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS,
AND ACTING AS EX -OFFICIO BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
CYPRESS RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT AMENDING RESOLUTION
NO. 6655 ESTABLISHING HOURLY PAY RANGES FOR TEMPORARY
PART TIME AND SEASONAL POSITIONS
WHEREAS, the Personnel Rules and Regulations of the City of Cypress require
that amendments or revisions to the Position Classification Plan, revisions to class
specifications or salary adjustments for positions be approved by the City Council, and as
acting as ex -officio Board of Directors of the Cypress Recreation and Park District; and
WHEREAS, per Senate Bill No 3, the California minimum wage will increase from
$11.00 per hour to $12.00 per hour on January 1 2019; and
WHEREAS, certain part-time classifications are being updated to comply with
minimum wage requirements and to avoid internal compaction between classifications;
and
WHEREAS, the minimum wage is scheduled to increase incrementally until it
reaches $15.00 per hour by 2022; and
WHEREAS, current and future pay rates for the temporary part-time management
positions will be adjusted to be consistent with the regular full-time classifications; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that a temporary part-time classification for
Maintenance Worker be established and compensated at the same rate as the full-time
classification;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of
Cypress, and acting as ex -officio Board of Directors of the Cypress Recreation and Park
• District, that Resolution No. 6655 be amended as indicated below.
SECTION 1 Effective December 28, 2018, the increases associated with minimum
wage adjustments for temporary part-time and seasonal employees in the positions
indicated shall be compensated as indicated in Attachment A
SECTION 2. Effective August 28, 2018, current and future pay increases for
temporary part-time management positions will be adjusted to be consistent with the
regular full-time classifications.
SECTION 3. Effective August 28, 2018, the pay range for the newly added part-
time Maintenance Worker shall be compensated as indicated in Attachment 'A with
future increases adjusted to be consistent with the regular full-time Maintenance Worker
classification.
SECTION 4. A temporary part-time and seasonal employee is eligible for a merit
increase within the salary range established for the position based on acceptable job
performance as approved by the Department Director and provided that the employee
has worked a minimum number of hours from the date of appointment or the date of the
last merit increase as indicated on the Attachment A
SECTION 5. A temporary part-time and seasonal employee must meet the
qualifications of a position as specified in the job specification in order to qualify for a
promotion to a position with a higher rate of pay In addition, all promotions shall be based
on acceptable job performance as approved by the Department Director
SECTION 6. Incumbents of temporary part-time and seasonal positions receive
no benefits except as required by State and Federal Law.

SECTION 7 All resolutions and parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
rescinded.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Cypress, and acting
as ex -officio Board of Directors of the Cypress Recreation and Park District, at a regular
meeting held on the 27°' day of August, 2018.
