A regular meeting of the Cypress City Council was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Mayor
Berry in the Executive Board Room, 5275 Orange Avenue, Cypress, California.

The City Attorney reported that the City Council would be meeting in Closed Session
regarding:
Conference with Legal Counsel — Anticipated Litigation, discussion of potential initiation
of litigation pursuant to Government Code section 54956.9(d)(4).
At 6:01 p.m., the Mayor recessed the meeting.
RECONVENE
The 7:00 p.m. session of the City Council meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by
Mayor Berry.

The City Attorney reported that the City Council met in Closed Session regarding:

was taken.
No other action was taken in Closed Session, nor was any solicited.

Carole Shaw spoke regarding the Cypress Woman's Club Holiday Wonderland event.
Colleen Jansen thanked Mayor Berry for her year of service as Mayor.
Christopher Aguilera spoke regarding Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva's Holiday
Open House and Toy Drive event.
CONSENT CALENDAR
All matters listed on the Consent Calendar are to be approved with one motion unless a
Council Member requests separate action on a specific item.
It was moved by Mayor Pro Tem Johnson and seconded by Council Member Yarc, to
approve Consent Calendar Item No. 1.
The motion was unanimously carried by the following roll call vote:

Recommendation: Approve the 2020 City Council meeting schedule.

Item No. 2: City Council Reorganization
The City Clerk opened the nominations for Mayor.
It was moved by Council Member Morales and seconded by Council Member Peat, to
nominate Mayor Pro Tern Johnson to the office of Mayor.
Mayor Pro Tern Johnson was unanimously elected Mayor by the following roll call vote:

Council Member Yarc was unanimously elected Mayor Pro Tern by the following roll call

Sunburst Youth Challenge Academy. Attended a visitation for long-time Senior Center
volunteer Marlene Callahan. Attended the Seventh-Day Adventist Church and spoke
regarding her service on City Council.

Attended the PACE graduations at Vessels and Landell schools. Attended the Cypress
Holiday Sing. Attended the Tree Lighting Ceremony at Cypress Church. Attended the
St. Irenaeus Noel Night.
CITY MANAGER REMARKS
The City Attorney congratulated outgoing Stacy Berry and incoming Mayor Rob Johnson
and Mayor Pro Tern Yarc.
The City Manager announced there are still tickets available for the Chamber of
Commerce's Holiday Extravaganza on December 12, 2019.
The City Manager also stated that City Hall would be closed December 24 through 27
and December 31 through January 1.
ADJOURNMENT
Mayor Johnson adjourned the meeting at 8:42 p.m. to an adjourned Regular Meeting, to
be held on Monday, January 13, 2020, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Executive Board
Room.
