Hello Councilmember Marquez,
Thank you for the kind wishes. I hope that this email finds you well also.
Yes, we know that you are not personally attacking our city. Even so, it is my opinion
that you are involved. Please show the great people of the City of Cypress I am
wrong by declaring your distaste for the actions of those attorneys. You have a great
platform to show our citizens how smart you are by telling them that AB-182's
paragraph 14040 is unconstitutional and my understanding it only separates a city
from its money. Renouncing this action is a simple solution to put you in a better light.
A person with your contacts would do better-serving folks that are trying to make a
difference in this world like fighting human trafficking. Before my car accident, I
worked hard to change legislation to assist those (mostly women) that were victimized
by traffickers. Based on your CV, we could use a person like you to assist in making
meaningful changes. I would be happy to work with you on this.
Kind regards,
Mario Bica

Dear Mr. Bica,
I hope you are well today! The letter we received from the attorney expressly stated that he is
representing the Southwest Voter Registration and Education Project (SWVREP). They are bringing the
legal action, not me.
Sincerely,
Councilmember Marquez

Dear Councilmembers and Mr. Grant,
We are at a crossroads. I believe that one of the Councilmembers is
working to extort the City of Cypress to move in a direction that she
chooses, and not that which is the will of the people. It is obvious that
Councilmember Marquez is at the root of this lawsuit. Her willingness to
try and create division where there is none appears to be the tip of the
iceberg unless she gets her way.
I hope the City stands firm and fights this threat. Hopefully, a reasonable
candidate will be elected to replace her. It is my hope that she can be
voted out of office based on (what I believe to be) treachery or voters lack
of confidence.
Kind regards,
Mario Bica
