Celebrate Cypress is here . State of the City Wednesday, Festival Concert Friday, and Festival
Saturday makes for a big week! I hope you get a chance to enjoy it.
The City Council postponed its discussion of the California Voting Rights Act to Monday (10/4)
afternoon. I’ll share an update as soon as the City Council sets our direction. Today also marks a
change in the State rules that control virtual City Council meetings. I expect, unless the pandemic re-
re-surges, the City Council will return to all in-person meeting participation. We’re voluntarily
continuing to provide the community virtual, written and telephonic opportunities to participate in
our meetings. Our City Clerks continue to do a great job making our meetings accessible and
transparent in the face of evolving rules and new (yet thoroughly unreliable) technology.
Don’t forget the flu shot clinic coming to the Civic Center. I heard the flu may be back with a
vengeance this year after being checked by last year’s lockdown. It’s also open enrollment time and
coming off the pandemic, this is an ideal time to double check your benefits.
