I would like to formally thank those of you on this email for your assistance in relation to Lexington Park. Jeff, for opening the lines of communication, heeding our concerns and putting together a written park operation plan that outlines and touches on almost all of the resident's concerns. Councilwoman Dr. Marquez, Councilwoman Hertz-Mallori, and Councilman Minikus for being willing to meet with the nearby residents, listen to our concerns and answer our questions. This park has been an issue of contention for many years now, and while none of you were actually involved in the original decision making process that got us here, all of you were willing to jump in and help when asked. While many people still believe that the park should have been something different (myself included), what has been created is by no means a detriment to our community. I toured the park last night with my neighbors and was pleasantly surprised with what I saw. Speaking with city staff led to some additional understanding of potential park uses and a great discussion about how to address potential issues that may arise. A foundation of trust has been built thanks to Jeff and his staff that I think is going to be instrumental moving forward, and I would like to applaud all involved for that. Please know that you are appreciated and this project, while a highly debated topic, was completed beautifully and I have high hopes that as the park opens and fears are quelled, the park will become a welcome addition to the community.
