I don’t mean to sound negative, but my experience in 41 years of living in Cypress is that
when certain people get into council positions, they appear to have a direction NOT in the
direction off supporting the best interest of the citizens. But why would Cypress be different
than any other political entity. I have seen this with the way the sale of a portion of the race
course property went (they just kept bringing it up until it was approved) and the way the
church property situation went for the church at the corner of Lexington and Katella. (When
the church bought the property they signed an agreement that it would not be used as a
church.) You can’t even trust that church to keep their agreements.
I have read so much negativity on public media about the way the agreement for the use of the
property is going down, that they have to pick a day when they can expect less attendance to
try to railroad the decision. It is also Lincoln’s Birthday for those that have that holiday off.
They could have picked any Monday other than the holiday weekends, this week and next.
Someone knows exactly what they are doing.
As I stated in our conversation, I watched the meetings on cable until I got rid of Spectrum
cable. (Who hasn’t?) The meetings need to be in a form that they can be watched on live
streaming, which is how the majority of people get their programing now. But that would let
citizens come down to the meeting as I did at 1am in the morning before something is
railroaded.
No, I think I’ll stay out of Cypress politics. There are too many working against the citizens
that we don’t stand a chance. And at my age, I don’t need the added stress.
Good Luck!! It sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders and will do what you can
for the improvement of Cypress. But don’t get a stroke over it. One thing I have found in my
years is that evil is ALWAYS stronger than good. The only advantage that good has is to be
smarter. Unfortunately, evil is learning and growing.
Hopefully your wisdom and perseverance will be enough to counter the bad.
Best of Luck,
Norman Turf

Wow. You were spot on regarding the way the council picks meeting
dates to assure poor attendance. Valentine’s Day?!?
No need to call. This shows we really need new council members,
except you!!
